    Question Advice on supplements

Hi everyone, im not in the 'over 50's' but my grandad is, i was going to buy him something like cacao or maca as he is suffering from depression, he also has a few other health problems but im not sure about the detail of them.
I was wondering with you all being older, what you feel you benefit most from that you take, whether it be spirilina, cacao, gogis, wheatgrass, maca etc. my grandad doesnt eat 'raw' so it would have to be in supplement form. he is about 66years.

    Thanks

I'm 60 and I eat nothing but real food. No "super foods" or anything of the like other than blueberries, strawberries, oranges, etc. Does he get out and move in the fresh air? Is he hydrated? Drinking enough fluids? Will he drink smoothies?

I have started to use green powders for the past few months but it has not made any difference to how I feel so I can not say if there is any good in them other than the usual effect caused by thinking that you are doing a good thing for your body.
They are still what I would recommend that he take, especially chlorella and spirulina.

Usually people seem to like E3Live BrainOn (which has the cacao ingredient known to help) or even just E3Live or another type of quality green powder such as Vitamineral Green. But there are so many factors that go into depression and what works and doesn't is very different for many. Often it's the toxic stuff one is consuming that causes these problems, in addition to other things. You can always make some raw treats with cacao to see if that does anything immediately. Maca can take months sometimes to see results, but many like it. If somehow you can add raw into his diet like a green smoothie, that alone may show results.

    Other supplements:
    High doses of Omega-3s
High doses of Magnesium-the form varies for each person
    St. John's Wort
    Sam-E

Maybe try a general brain supplement that supplies a few different ingredients.
