    Default Good Detox

I had an interesting detox episode over the last 24 hours. I think sharing it here may help someone who might be experiencing (or will be experiencing) detox. Yesterday (Tuesday) I had concluded my regular 40 hour water fast which began Sunday afternoon. I had ended the fast with a banana-date-nut shake (it was delicious). After the shake I knocked out 3 sets of 70 pushups. It had been a couple of weeks since I had been able to do that many in such a short space of time (about 20 minutes). I figured I would do the rest of my workout in the evening as I had lots to do in my home office and I had to get to my regular office by the afternoon. I drank the shake at about 8 am. I figured I would eat lunch a little after noon-time (right before I left for the office) so I wouldn't end up eating late (I normally eat 2 meals per day). At about 12:30pm I had a bowl of mung bean sprouts, topped with almond pate and some raw hummus made with white beans (I don't recommend it, I like it with garbanzos much better), and some raw sunflower seeds on top. I had one piece of zwieback bread with it. I really wasn't all that hungry (the shake really held me) but I ate anyways so as to not have to eat again too late at night. On my way to the office, I felt sharp pain in my stomach. It was very gripey. I knew I needed to eliminate (I had gone once already and usually go 2 or 3 times per day depending on how much I eat). When got to the office I went alot. I felt like it was when I stared the master cleanse in late August. Like all my insides were coming out. Once that was done I felt 100% better. I figured that would be it. But every few minutes I had to go again and it would be the same thing. At first I thought it may have been the mung beans because, (and please excuse the imagery) it was all like green water. I was going like that pretty much every 15 minutes at the office. I couldn't go home right away. I had no headache or any other ache, but I felt like I had taken a strong laxative. It died down for awhile and I was able to drive home (although I really had to go when I was in the car and its an hour drive). Once I got home I kept going pretty much every hour all night long. Now I knew it wasn't the mung beans or anything I ate, it was detox. My body was cleaning house. Each time I went I felt not just a little better, but great. This morning I was still going, but now its dying down. Also, everytime I would even sip water, I would have to run to the toilet less than 2 minutes later. I drank the water anyways because I knew what was happening. I did a set of chinups after one of the times I left the bathroom this morning, I felt so much energy and it was growing with each elimination, so I wanted to see what I really had. I did 22 chin ups with relative ease! I am very hungry now. I am going to make the same banana shake I made yesterday (its about 10:50am now) and if I am hungry later (which I doubt) I am going to have almond butter and fruit. I got on the scale this morning, usually I am between 191lbs and 195lbs since I ended the 30 day juice fast, I was 187lbs this morning. Its the lightest I have been without fasting in about 16 years. I will still do the juice fast beginning Sunday. I am interested to see how my body react. I hope this little episode helps anyone who is on a raw journey :)

    Peace and blessings.

Todd, thanks for sharing. I guess that something similar is happening to me at the moment. It's been going on since tuesday night. No sign of it stopping yet. One difference though... I don't feel the energy you mentioned. I feel kind of drained.... but I'm pretty sure it's not a stomach bug or anything like that cause it's not feeling the same. Well... I'm sure I'll survive this too ;)

I hope you feel better now!

Good words Todd - my husband and I shared that same type of experince several years ago when he fasted for 27 days and I fasted with one exception, I ate one cucumber a day. Almost a month later, we had that same experince - and man the energy level was astounding. Thanks for reminding me - I had forgotten that experince another reminder to fast and remain raw - What have I been thinking

Tanja_swe, you may be feeling the first level of detox, hang in there, and see if your energy level improves within the next 48 hours. Each time you eliminate, make sure you drink water, as you may be dehydrated.

    Thanks for sharing Todd.
Hmm this amazes me, as a society do we have that much junk in our bodies?

    Curtis you are right.

I was just reading an article on cnn yesterday. It was saying that on average americans are 20lbs heavier and a little over an inch taller than they were in the mid-1960s. The thing I thought about was the steriods and other drugs that have been in the feed of the meat we eat (or used to eat). Over the decades people have gotten bigger, but they have also gotten sicker and in many cases suffer longer (only kept breathing by drugs). Its no wonder we detox the way we do. Its a blessing from God that the human body can recover at all. Thanks be to God for the raw lifestyle!!
