Heather, I made those snickers and ate them after my work-out... just, WOW!
Because I didn't have any raw nut butters in the house I just chopped up some walnuts into tiny pieces and sprinkled it in with the honey-cacao mix, but it was amazing nonetheless! I loved the crunchy bits :)

Thank you so much for this idea, you really don't have to deprive yourself when raw :)

I just made some and it kicked my tastebuds frail feeble butt.

They may look more like parallel universe hot dogs than Snickers but me and brethren loved 'em.

Here's the rundown of what I did:

I did a c-section on the dates, cutting them hot dog style and taking out the pits. On a seperate lil plate, I mixed cocoa powder, olive oil, maple syrup, and honey to make a thick yet liquidy chocolate paste. I smeared said paste onto the open dates, and then smeared on almond butter. Then I froze 'em.

The result is indeed Snickers-like, except for one thing. Snickers have a crunch to 'em... in the form of peanuts. Use some jungle peanuts or some other kind of nut and you got a real winner here.

    Thanks for the 'ggestion Heathergirly.

I finally made these and I can't believe I forgot the cacao. I filled the dates with a mixture of almond butter, agave, vanilla bean seeds, and a pinch of salt.

I split the date, put in spoonful of the mix, topped it with a pecan and the other half of the date. Wrapped each one individually in wax paper and put them all in a freezer bag.

    Very nice treat!

When they are gone I will try again, next time with the cacao.

Wow! These sound great. May be the first thing I try when I'm finished with all the recipes in Alissa's book. Thanks to everyone who posted the tips - every little bit helps!

Nice job on the candies, they look and sound quite delicious!

And what a clever idea re the wrapping! Just ordinary wax paper, from the looks of it with the edges cut with those special sewing scissors that give that type of edge, and a happy face sticker applied. Marvellous! I have a bunch of Hallowe'en stickers that is languishing in a box that I've had for years! What good use I could make of them in a similar manner. Sometimes it takes seeing what marvellously creative ideas others have to trigger an idea.

As has been said elsewhere, Happy Hauntings today! :)

Ah, so that's the secret: prolonged processing. I'll have to give it a try though I hope it doesn't burn out my food processor <lol>!

    Thanks. :)

Thanks Diana. It feels good to finally find a use for those stickers languishing in the box. Some may think it is a sad way to spend a Friday night, but I had fun doing it.

My healthfood store just started stocking (just in time for Halloween I might add) Khadrawi Dates, these things are so chewy and caramely, its like Snickers that grow on trees.

stuff an almond in each date. Shake a bunch in a baggy with raw cacoa powder (and a spritz of water if needing moisture). Freeze and eat!

    Yum!

Just be careful NOT to make too large a batch! You may eat them all!

Now we've moved from Snickers to Almond Joy! Yum!
