    Smile My first Vitamix smoothie!!

Ohmygod, I finally ordered my Vitamix, after mulling it over for months, and it arrived last night. Someone on this website kicked my butt because i said i didn't have time to make a smoothie in the morning before work, and they were so right........i have to "make" the time. So this morning i made a smoothie: one banana, one orange, some coconut oil, some water, a fistful of salad greens, and BOOM, what a smoothie!! And to think that i used to drink Slimfast for over a DECADE containing aspartame and i didn't even know or care. The cells in my body don't even know what's hitting them this morning. This machine is awesome, our whole family is in love with it. I am so happy. :):):)

I remember my first Vitamix Smoothie after just using my blender for years.

I still remember that "wow" I got with my first sip.

    Default still experimenting

wow, you can really make some stinkers with this machine!! too much ice, too much water, and yuck.....but what fun to experiment and watch everything just pulverize! Does anyone put actual chlorella chewable pills into their Vitamix? I can't swallow them (they stick in my throat), i can't chew them (they taste horrible), but i bet my machine can handle them! And i have this huge container of chlorella powder that i never use because i just can't get over the swampy smell and taste, any suggestions for that??

Yes it will pulverise the Chlorella tablets, although I would not add to many since you do not like the taste. So add and taste....

I always use Frozen Fruit and Rarely use Ice. So keep the Vita-High.....

    Default water and ice

ok, so i'll add just a few chlorella pills......

i'm still experimenting with adding water versus ice........this weekend will try a vegetable "soup", don't have a clue how much water to add to this, i'm guessing not too much. I'm not following my Vitamix recipes because i don't always have all their ingredients so i just wing it. Some fruit smoothies say add water, some don't add water, i guess it depends on the amount of natural water in the fruit.

today's smoothie went like this: little water, handful of mixed salad greens, one banana, 1/2 orange, handful of blueberries and a big spoonful of coconut oil and some ice!! yummmmm....

I use frozen fruit rather than ice cubes for my smoothies :)

Enjoy your VM! I've had mine for *mumble mumble* years (it's a Maxi 4000), and I only changed out the container on it as they have been improved over the years!

Oh, and I did have to replace the brass thingy that makes the blades turn twice, but I think the newer blade assemblies are better that way.

[QUOTE=RaeVynn;504241]I use frozen fruit rather than ice cubes for my smoothies :)

I use frozen fruit for my smoothies too. Add some frozen strawberries and/or dark cherries to that banana, orange and coconut oil smoothie and it will be great too! I love the dark cherries because it makes the smoothie taste a little sweeter.

I am still saving for a Vitamix - it will be a while for me. I can't wait to be able to place that order. I had a Healthmaster 100 that worked really well for a long while and then phhhttt. They sent me a replacement and the replacement only lasted about 4 months. I called and they refunded my money. I did not want another replacement! I was not happy. Went and bought a 650 watt blender that has been working OK - but I'm sure not as well as the Vitamix. It doesn't do that great a job with fruits containing seeds like raspberries and blackberries. So everytime I make a smoothie with those types of berries I am constantly having to spit the seeds into a napkin or swallow them if I am out in public. Not a great feeling.

    Enjoy your VITAMIX!:) I'm jealous!

I, too, made my very first smoothie today with a Vita Mix 3600 that I purchased on ebay. I used frozen blackberries, a banana, an orange, about 4 cups of spinach leaves, water and some ice. That was my lunch and very filling it was. A good friend from an exercise forum told me about the green smoothies. I am going to give this a chance. I googled flax seed and was led to this forum, which looks very promising!

Default finally adding chlorella to my smoothies....

I have evolved to the point that i have carefully added some chlorella to my smoothies (because i do not like the pills). I'm just adding 1/8 of a teaspoon right now, hopefully will work my way up. I read that chlorella is extremely healthy. My smoothie today was a handful of spinach, one banana, one pear, chlorella and ice cubes, yummy.

I can't live without my Vitamix! What I like to do is let a bunch of bananas ripen really well so there very sweet, then I freeze them and add one for my sweet base. I also use frozen mango for a base as well. This makes the smoothie really creamy and thick. If they aren't too sweet, I add one medjool date. I usually add ground flax seed as well...and interchange other fresh fruits and greens. Spinach is tastless so it's great in a smoothie...and dino kale too!

For about 10 years I stalked the vitamix demo reps at events and stores in my city. I'd hang around their booth for a good hour trying all the things they made lol. My mom always said no way too expensive. On my own at 23 and i decided i cannot live any longer without a vitamix. Smoothies are one of my favourite meals, but the regular blenders cant handle the ice or frozen fruit. So i splurged and got one. I use it all the time, for everything. I would never give it away. My sister made fun of me saying its a lot of money to spend for one person and i'd never use it. Now she's like huh... you made this dressing in the vitamix? Thats crazy..
