Rabbits and wry neck/neck tilt

So about two weeks I went out to feed my rabbits, and my cute little lop named Coconut had a head tilted at about 180 degrees. I took him to the vet and turns out he has wry neck which can come from bacteria or parasites in the inner ear which totally throws their balance off.
It seems that vets overprescribe antibiotics as do regular doctors. I gave him the antibiotics and they are almost out, but he still isn't really improving. He can stand a little but still can't walk very well.
Does anybody have any experience with this and using alternate remedies or some kind of herbs. I was thinking maybe like a parasite protocol for humans with herbs like pau d'arco and black walnut or something.

a lot of times steroids are also prescribed. also some kind of dewormer...?? i will ask my rabbit/vet tech friend for more info. i would try a true RABBIT vet.

Yes get a real rabbit vet. Head tilt can be diffiould to treat if the vet is not experienced in rabbit care.

I have been using collodial silver for my bunny for infections, I also buy some great herbs for rabbits from the UK (Galens Garden). That is the only natural remedies I know of that are safe for rabbits. Remember they have a really sensitive digestive track.
Oh I just rememberd, that homeopathy has worked great aswell. Maby if you find a vet that is experienced in using homeopathics you can find the right remedie. I have use a combination remedie for my bunny for bladerinfections as she is prone to get that. She is doing better in less than 24 houres when I use it.
Just a few drops in the waterbowl, and if the bunny is not drinking I take a little on my finger and rub it onto the skin of ears and nose (she will lick it of) it is just a few drops dilutet by water.
Flower essences: Scleranthus and Rescue remedie / Five flower remedie, from Bach flower remedies or Healing Herbs. They will help the body to get into balance again. Just one drop in the waterbowl (not together with homeopathics, homeopathics should always be given alone) or rubed into the skin of the ears.
The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care by C.J. Puotinen is a great book on natural care for pets. There is a few bits in there for rabbits.
Rabbit health 101, is a great book too. It has a great chapter on headtilt. There is a new one out called: When Your Rabbit Needs Special Care: Traditional and Alternative Healing Methods by Lucile C. Moore & Kathy Smith, I havent read that one yet but it sounds really good :)
T-touch might be really great too if it is not caused by an infection. If it is an infection wait to use T-touch untill the infection is under controle. My bunny looooves T-touch

Oh my, this ended up getting really long LOL. Rabbits is my great passion and love, and having a "cronical ill" bunny for years who get blader stone and blader infections really easely. Well I pick up a thing or two ;-) I hope you can use any of this or alteast you will find a good vet to help you along :-)

Apparently my vet is a bunny vet.
I might just have to find another one.
Thanks for the great advice you two! I will definitely look into those books!
He is actually doing much better. He can walk again, and eats and drinks on his own now. His head is still tilted but he seems to be happy again. :)
