Raw Spirit Festival West
Yes, it's that time! (well, it will be in June) to prepare for the Raw Spirit Festival.
This year, there will be THREE! Count 'em, THREE Raw Spirit Festivals for your convenience and FUN!
The first will be in Santa Barbara, California. If you've never been to S.B., you've gotta come out. I'll be speaking and vending there and a group of friends from Twitter are searching out a place to stay and hang-out.
The price for this 3-day event has dropped by 1/2 thereby saving you $$$$! You can purchase per day as well. How cool is that? Children's rates are discounted so yes, bring the kids. I went last year. It was magical which is why I'm returning this year AND getting the opportunity to speak!
C'mon out and join us, will you?

I just noticed this appears to be the first year this event has morphed into three events in June, Aug, and Sept - all at different locations.
While this is a positive trend - and gives more people an opportunity to attend, I can't help but wonder if it will also dilute the guest list somewhat, as I'm sure not all the of well known names can attend all three.
.
-
No, they can't and I've spoken to many who wont attend all three yet, let's not come from scarcity. There are LOTS of well-known raw food advocates who've not been on the stages yet and we're encouraging them to be where they can be so, expect more east coast speakers to be on the east coast and west coast speakers to be on the west and maybe, some of each in Prescott.
Many of the speakers/vendors lose money at these events. Consider they're flying out, shipping product, paying for lodging then shipping themselves and product back PLUS paying for the booth.
There's going to be fewer stages at each so more people can see more of the speakers.
It'll all be fine. :)

Revvell,
ok so you know all about these festivals--i dont.
i have never been to any kind of raw "gathering", nor seminar..etc. have no idea what goes on at one. : /
we are contemplating going to the prescott one. why would it be good to go? what do you "get" for the price of a ticket (to me it seems hi---$ is an issue with the entire cost of the trip put together). thx!!

Last year was twice the cost but they're looking to fill the venue.
What do you get? Can't say what you'd get. Last year was the first year we'd been to RSF. I don't normally go to an outdoors one because I'm not fond of heat and crowds but we went. Figured if we didn't like it, we'd just enjoy the vacation time in Sedona. Got to speak to quite a few of the speakers, hear them speak, eat good food, meet a lot of people who know me from Rawkin' Radio, Twitter, Facebook and here. The weather could not have been more perfect. Enjoyed it immensely.

Revvell,
i didnt mean to sound greedy, what i meant by "get with the ticket" is for example, raw food sampling? anything? or do you pay 100 and then have to buy everyting to eat? are the speakers' presentations included with that? i just have to know in order to figure out what the whole trip would cost and if it's do-able. if 100 includes food for the day, then great. it would be about a 5 hour drive for us, each way. plus hotel (we dont camp)....would like to go and learn but it has to be cost effective too.
(shrug)
thx!

I understand but can't really answer your questions fully.
We sampled raw chocolate 'til I was overcome. (I don't handle it well). There were other samples there as well as give-aways. Very few people want to ship stuff home because they need it to be cost effective as well which is why I'm not going to speak in DC. Not cost effective for me to ship books/product AND myself there and back.
Yes, the speakers presentations are included. When we went, they fed everyone one meal. I don't know if they're doing that this year. If you look at the site, it'll say if they are.
The closest hotel we found was 20 miles out. We're renting a motorhome so we can be right in the middle of things. Seems less expensive than a hotel not to mention, more convenient. Oh wait, that's in SB, not Prescott. Don't know what we're doing for Prescott yet.

Santa Barbara is worth visiting with or without a festival. I'm seriously considering coming in June. Thanks for the heads up Revvell. :)
Sidenote: Your squirrel has reached dharma. :-D. I like that!

Raw Spirit Fest Santa Barbara - Accomodations
I would like to go but I'm not a camping type of gal-can anyone recommend inexpensive accomodations close by? I did make reservations at a Motel 6 in Goleta online but does anyone know if this is convenient or through the mountains?
Looking forward to seeing you Revvell!

Eee, I just spent some time browsing the website and saw that it's starting just a couple days after the 4 day intensive I'm attending in New England with Alissa.
Flying from Boston out of California for a couple more days of raw awesomeness sounds pretty freaking cool...
Tempting, tempting...

Arizona is gorgeous! You'll love it! Might consider taking a train if that's possible.
