Any thoughts on Frozen Raw Food For Dogs

I would be interested in any opinions regarding the several types of Fozen Raw pet foods now sold commercially. I am transitioning and I would like my two Fur Babies to transition also. My two dogs a pure male Brindle Pitt and a mixed female pit are 60 and 70 lbs.

my dogs LOVE it. they are 100% raw... and they are loving it tremendously. i add a clove of garlic to their food daily though to combat worms and fleas. ;)

my annabella's coat is soooooooooooooooooooo soft since she transitioned. they were 100% raw and then had to go to kibble (yuck) and now are back again and what a difference!

sometimes i add an extra egg to their dinner... just because. ;)

BARF is the one that you have to add raw meat to the product correct? How big is your dog. I want both myself and my babies to eat healthier but I cannot always afford organic as I live in Los Angeles and everything is expensive here.

no i don't add anything to it. i just feed it. it's a pound of raw stuff in every package.

Hi, I feed my dog and two cats raw prey model diet. I don't like any of the commercial diets because IMO they are too risky compared to preparing it yourself or using kibble. The frozen raw foods can be contaminated much more easily than kibble. I feed my dog and cats foods from the grocery store, ethnic markets and online sources for whole prey.

It depends on what sort of raw diet you want to use for them, if you're looking at the complicated barf diet or a diet where you have to add in all sorts of pulverised veggies and kelp and supplements, you'll save time with a premade one. If you want to do prey-model or "frankenprey" where you just feed animals as they'd eat them in nature (or close to it, my cats love chicken drumsticks and I do grind occasionally for one stubborn boy) it's much easier and safer to do it yourself. Check out yahoo groups there is lots of great raw pets groups (rawfeeding)

Congratulations on a healthier life for you and your pups!

Raw food is cheaper and safer when you buy and feed it yourself. I have five cats; I slashed my monthly cat food bill IN HALF when I transitioned from canned (at $200 per month) to raw (about $100 per month). I expect to drop that even lower as I refine my sources.

I have used Aunt Jennie's and Primal for my kitties, both are great, but I find the primal which comes in 1oz nuggets to be much easier to feed. I have also prepared my own from scratch, but it always seemed to be lacking something based on one of my kitty's IBS.

We used nature's bounty and switched to Bravo for the dog. She loves it, and it comes in handy 1/2lb burgers. Right now, for financial reasons, she's on a split of kibble and raw and is delighted (we use evo kibble) I look forward to taking her off the kibble soon when we have better paying jobs.

I've heard different opinions on this, but if you are concerned you can always supplement with recreational bones
