Default Spirulina, greens and picky eater

Do any of you feed your kids somting like spirulina, barleygrass and wheatgrass ? Down to what age ?
My daughter is a relly picky eater and im worriet that she dont get enought protien since she refuses to eat anything contaning it. She eats lots of fruits and some vegies just fine but wont touch the protein stuff. So I thought of giving her a little spirulina everyday. I take it myself but since it can be a heavy detoxer im a bit afraid to give it to her. I have seen on the web that some feed todlers AFA, so why shouldent it be safe for a 6 year old ? ;)
I think that she has a mild iron deficiancy so spirulina might help with that too. I give her barleygrass tablets now and then to make shure she gets enought greens as she is mostly eating cucumbers and tomatoes.
Does any of you have any other idears of what to feed a picky eather ?

I had the same problem with my son, I figured out the best way to get some greens and fats and a bunch of minerals etc into him was by getting him to drink green smoothies.

It was difficult at first (I think we started him when he was about 5 yrs old), but he's grown to not bat an eyelid when his cup of green smoothie is handed to him. I make our usual smoothie of various greens, orange juice, bananas, and half an avocado (for some mono unsaturated fats).

I also give him phytoplankton (similar to spirilina) in a small glass of orange juice, followed with a chaser of plain orange juice to wash down the taste. I mainly do this for his Omega 3 levels, but it also provides him with minerals and other nutrients as well. He does not like it!

I wouldn't worry too much about protein if you can get greens into your daughter.

    Good luck!

I used to keep my spirulina in a jar on my dining room table, cuz I used it every day.my grandson, who was 1 1/2 or 2 at the time, used to sneak it out of the jar, he loved it so much. we could always tell, cuz his mouth had a green ring, lol. he is 23 now, I'm not sure if he still likes it or not, but still eats healthfully.

Something surprisingly tasty and fun to eat are the chlorella chewable tablets. It's the only green supplement that I can actually get addicted to and have cravings for. The powder probably is good too if used in a soup.

You can also make a spirulina avocado dip.

almond milk smoothie for the protein in almonds

could also make a sesame seed milk smoothie

as a bonus both these seeds high in calcium

also grind seeds in blender = flax / sesame / walnut / sun / almond / pumpkin / etc to then add to foods . like can sprinkle on salads , or maybe mix into raw oats . or soaked 24 hours wheat seeds with other things like raisins / berries / sweet fruits . as an extra the wheat also brings protein . ands cheap - also b vitamins and vita e in the wheat bio :)

    Thank you all
Lots of great surgestions. She does get green smoothie once in a while, and likes it. But if she gets it everyday she wont touch it, even if I change the ingrediences. Sigh

The idear of taking stuff with orange juice is a great idear. I will look into the clorella and phyto plankton. I do give her capsuels (vegan) with flaxssed oil and GLA for the fatty acids.

She have short periods where she will eat somthing like sunflower seeds or pecan nuts, and then not touch any for weeks. Im not shure she would drink nut milks, as I cant get the stuff down myself and I dont think she will like the falvor. But I will give it a try :)

Phytoplankton has a very strong, unpleasant taste so make sure to mask it well. Orange juice is a very good idea to cover the taste of a lot of things like the green powders. Orange juice and banana smoothies are good to add any of them to along with fresh greens.

Sun Warrior protein powder actually tastes good so that's another option. It's made me enjoy smoothies again. I also like if I run out of bananas, it still can taste good added with other super foods. It also mixes well in shaker cups for times when something quick is needed.
