Default OH, it was worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Finally made it to Karyn's Raw Bistro in Chicago! Had the Sunday brunch and it was SO good. I am a happy camper!!

Her reputation is well deserved, in my opinion. The best thing on the brunch was the tamale! I would have never ordered one, but as it was there, tried it. I couldn't believe you could do that with raw. Even the texture (which for me is the hardest to attain with raw) was perfect. YUM. Raw Paella was also very interesting. 25 or so things to sample - and we tried them all!!

The adjoining store was also very interesting. If you're ever in the area.... go for it.

her food is delicious, I would caution that anyone who is very strict and 100% raw at all times, may not find her food compatible.

For example, for tortilla chips - she was using el millagro corn tortilla packages - usually 3 for $1 at jewel. They need additional cooking, yes, but how *raw* they are to begin with - I do not know. This was about 5+ years ago that I saw the delivery of those, so perhaps things have changed. She heavily uses Braggs, which I don't consider raw or even a good choice over kikoman's naturally brewed soy sauce.

But for those who are less dogmatic and interested in a fine dining raw experience, the sunday brunch is outstanding. I have taken SAD friends there and they were very impressed, and satisfied with the meal.

It's a great place, I agree. I have been there several times and have never gone home unsatisfied. Even the restaurant's atmosphere is peaceful and comforting. And the shop indeed has some interesting things, the staff is always friendly and helpful. Love it.

and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.
