Default Sorry, here we go again!

So, I've checked some of the old and most recent threads........are any places in the US still selling unpasteurized almonds? Do we know for sure that almonds from Spain are unpasteurized? They all look wrinkly and old to me.

The ones that say NOT pasteurized are from Spain and nice and not wrinkly. They are good! I e-mailed the guys there and they told me only California almonds are pasteurized.

Have you gotten their Brazil nuts Lucy? Are they really raw? Brazil nut milk is out of this world! I'm either used to bad almond milk or love Brazil nut milk over almond milk.

www.rawfromthefarm.com sells unpasteurized American organic almonds and they're great! They sprout when they are soaked.
(if you write in the comments section of your order that Zoe M. sent you, then I get a discount, which is also great)

I should check with my grocery store store because they sell raw almonds but I'm thinking they are not because I thought most weren't raw anymore.
They are in the bulk bins in the natural section. They have three bins in a row..one is reg. almonds, the other is raw almonds and the last one is raw organic almonds. All the almonds look completely different in color and size. The raw organic are really small and very dark brown. Hmmmmm.

I found some last week at Whole Foods Market. Not the ones in the bulk section, those are now being labeled "steam-pasteurized". In the section with containerized nuts there was a 13.5 oz. box with a Whole Foods label of RAW UNPASTEURIZED 100% ORGANIC ALMONDS, imported from Italy. They are smaller, flatter and darker than California almonds, but they have a good flavor.

Don't overlook hazelnuts from Oregon. I'm pretty sure those are still raw.

Pike Place market sells a wonderful hazelnut from a local farm. They say natural, but they are raw. In the summer the same farmer sells at some of the local markets.
I heart buying local when I can

I get mine from raw from the farm. I just don't trust what's in the stores any more, at least when it comes to almonds.
