    Question Maca powder and pregnancy

I read on another raw site that Maca gave preterm contractions to avoid while pregnant. Does anybody have any other Raw foods to avoid while pregnant??

    Hi Tracey-

Your question has been on my mind as I have been wondering the same thing. I finally found something that mentions maca and pregnancy! I was just watching a David Wolfe video on You Tube and he says maca is good for pregnancy. He says this around the 5 minute mark. The link is below:

In case the link does not work the video is titled "Ultimate Smoothie with David Wolfe 2"

    Good luck!

One more thought-- maybe maca is potentially dangerous in a pregnancy if the person has never consumed it before, or consumes large quantities of it since it is a stimulant.

    Maca is not a stimulant.
Here is an article on maca and pregnancy:

If I were pregnant (I am not right now, now is not the time) then I would probably use maca, if it felt right, but in small to moderate, infrequent dosages. But that's just me. If you feel it is too risky, don't take it!

David Wolfe LOVES to sell superfoods. I really wouldn't trust his opinion b/c he is paid by companies to sell. I've heard famous raw foodists speak against him and it does make sense...he is really pushing them.

Maca does give many people a stimulant-like effect...hyper, more energy...I personally wouldn't do it during pregnancy.

I don't believe that David Wolfe is paid by companies to sell. He has his own company, he creates many of his own products. I believe that superfoods work best for him and that is why he promotes them. To each his own.
