    Default Hormone Replacement

Does anyone have experience with not taking hormone replacement after menopause .... I am hoping that with eating an all raw diet that it will no longer be necessary to do hormone replacement (I am using all natural products from a naturopath - but would like to stop completely).

I (years ago) opted not to take any. Even though my doc (at the time, don't go to her anymore), but she agreed with me and would have been willing to work with me with whatever kinds I chose.
    What DO you take?
I feel raw with definitely help with all menopausal symptoms. Raw is very healing.

    Default Hormone Replacement

I have been taking Natural Progesterone Creme and DHEA - between the two of them I have a bill of over $100 a month... I am thinking of totally cutting them out and seeing what happens now that I am 100% raw.

I have also had a problem with gas due to the new way of eating... seems like the more greens I eat the worse it gets... any suggestions!

For gas I would start with green smoothies for breakfast. Digestive enzymes taken just before beginning of meal help a lot too. Don't eat fruits close to other foods, allow at least a couple of hours.

I started getting hot flashes and took an herb called Vitex- after a few days they went away (and I discontinued the Vitex) and never returned. Other than that I don't take anything but then again I am pre-menopausal.

I've been in peri-menopause for the past 4+ years. My first time raw was also around 4 years ago, not too many months after first experiencing hot flashes. I think raw eating may have put off the onset of menopause as I can't seem to go the 12 months required to be in official menopause. Fortunately, I don't get hot flashes or any noticeable symptoms when I'm raw.

The doctor I see is a women's oncologist and surgeon. She advises against hormone replacement for all but the harshest conditions. She believes in a letting menopause happen naturally, without drugs, because of the increased cancer risks of hormone replacement therapies. That makes sense since all she does is treat cancer, and in my case, verify that I am still (and forever) cancer free.

Do watch out for your bones.
I did not take HRT and I guess that I did not exercise enough as I have now been told that I have osteoporosis.
I do realise that the results are based on the density expected of SAD eaters and that our bones are naturally more porous.

bones can be watched out for with lots of leafy greans and an otherwise good diet. I was a big believer in just doing menopause naturally and it worked out pretty well for me. Regular exercise helps. I use a progesterone cream, but probably don't benefit from it much. I swear, since I've been raw, I just feel very healthy in my everywhere! I am 67---did memopause when I was about 50.
