Default How to get raw apples really pureed?

    Hi,

I tried to puree a raw apple in my Vitamix and that did not go over well. I had chunks. I even added a little water but still no luck. I first tried my mini food processor but that left chunks too. My baby is only 7-months old so he gags on chunks.

Any ideas how to make it more pureed?

    Thanks!

    -K

Chop the apples first either with a knife or dry in blender, add more water, blend longer.

put your apple through a juicer like a champion or greenstar and then add in the pulp to the juice. that'll give you a nice puree.

but honestly your vitamix should work. i don't have chunks in my green smoothies and i even add nuts to them!

    With your vitamix,

Add water and date to your apple, it will turn to a smooth pure.

My speach therapist asked me to bring an apple pure for my child and food. She doesn't want to chew and she only want smoothie. I didn't want to tell her that we eat raw so i agree to make one. I came up with this recipe and it turn out to be like a nice pure.

Date has great nutrition in them for baby.

Awesome thanks! I'll try adding a date.

I just made pureed carrots in my Vitamix. I used three carrots and some water and it turned out nice and smooth. I just had to push the carrots down a few times.

I think with the apple I just needed to use more then one and add water. I love the date idea though. Not that my 20-lb chunk needs more calories but I think he'll like it!

i used a little manual baby food mill for tiny portions. you have to make so much with a blender, i prefer fresh so just made what i could use at the time. it takes a bit of physical power to do the harder stuff (like carrot, or kale for some reason) but if you chop it or slice it thin or grate it first it works very well. apple was no problem.

here's a picture of what it looked like. easy to clean too, and no electricity used!

i plan on using this one to make smaller portions for my babe once she's born.

lexen healthy juicer i'll just add the juice back into the pulp. not sure if it'll work... but i have the juicer so what the heck.

Oh that's great! Have you read reviews on the Healthy Juicer? I don't own a juicer and right now it's not in the budget but this looks good. I really want to start drinking wheatgrass and it would be great to try and sneak it into the kids foods.

I'm guessing it only does wheatgrass though?

that IS a great little machine! i've only seen the porkert for hand juicing wheatgrass and it's a bunch more money than that. not plastic though which i kind of liked, there was a plated one and a stainless one last time i checked.

this kind of hand crank juicer is good for wheatgrass, sprouts, any leaves and soft fruit and berries, or so the porkert claimed at least.

you gave me an idea though, why not use the pulp from juicing carrots (apples, beets, greens, etc) and mix it w a little bit of the juice for baby food? can't get more ground up than that unless you chew it up for baby yourself! (i did chew up food for them when they were wee, like carrots and nuts and other hard stuff.)
