An interesting conversation
I just had to share...
I was talking to a friend of mine who is in her early 20's. She is very fit and trim, exercises a couple hours at least a few days a week, runs, and follows a strict low calorie 5 meals a day (high protein) diet. So, we were talking about raw, too. I was sharing her what I know about it and explaining the "diet". And I thought it was funny because I felt like the odd ball saying how you eat mostly fruits and vegetables...but isn't that what food is? I mean, food isn't from a box! I then told her that and we both started laughing. We feel odd eating "raw" while others who eat yellow colored cheese puffs are considered normal.
Anyway, just to put a perspective on things and share a moment.

LOL!
Your story reminded me of one time when I was shopping, and I put a bunch of spinach on the counter at the checkout. A woman standing next to me asked me what that was. I told her, "spinach".
No exaggeration:
Deadpan, she said to me, "Oh, I thought that came out of a can."
AAHHHHHH!
Jackie <----still smiling about that one!

Cute story, Debbie. It can put things into perspective for some people!

Twin,
Too true. When I was in my early teens, a neighborhood friend always carried fruit in his pockets to munch on when the mood struck him (he might have been a raw foodist, I don't know!). Anyway, my group of friends would get together for Monopoly games, softball, movie nights, whatever. We would always share Doritoes, pretzels and other snacks, but the host always had to make sure there was some fruit on hand for Jeff. He was the oddball, the "weird" one. I saw a picture of him 2 years ago, in which he was 35 and dear lord was he gorgeous. LOL! I wish I would have asked him about his snacking habits way back then!

Debbie, I so totally agree. The things people think of as "food" these days just kills me! WHen you think about how dead and denatured the SAD diet is! It is normal for most foods to be denatured, even the majority of what you find in health food stores...Just to make it look pretty and last longer on the shelf.
It makes me shiver. THank you all for reminding me that I am not alone in this opinion.
Cassy
