    Default Soaking times?

    Hello everyone,

I was wondering how long I should be soaking things like sundried tomatoes and dates? I just put each of them in bowls and filled the bowls with water. Do I leave them out or put them in the fridge? Also, how long will they last if I keep them in water?

Sorry for all the questions. I have never done this before but I am working toawrds going 100% for 30 days and I have tons to learn!!! Im excited though!

Have you gotten Alissa's book and dvd's yet? If not, I highly suggest it. Many, if not all of your questions will be answered in those.

Also, while waiting for other responses, there's a search engine here (points at the banana) where you can search "soaking dates" or whatever. That may get you going faster and get questions answered faster as well.

    Good luck to you,

    Revvell

The time for soaking dates and tomatoes are not set in stone and will depend on how dry or wet you want them.
You will have to refridgerate them once they have been soaked.
The time that soak times are important is for seeds and nuts (especially if you plan to sprout them) because you will want to soak them enough to get all of the baddies out.

    Thanks for your replies,

I do have Alissa's book and DVD but I just wasnt sure how long is too long when soaking dates and sundried tomatoes. The chart in the book doesnt include those... I soaked my dates in a bowl of water and left them there for over 24 hours... then I put them in the fridge. They were really really soft, so I wasnt sure if I left them in the water for too long.

When you refrigerate them, do you drain them and keep them out of water (like you do for seeds)?

I did make a date nut torte with dates that I only soaked for about an hour and they turned out fine. Although I think I will soak them for longer next time so the frosting will be creamier. It really was a delicious recipe though!

Thanks, sport! I can never find a list quickly when I need it. Putting this in my favorites.
