    Question Quick Veggies To Grow?

It looks like I'll have a garden this year after all! :) I'm getting a load of foundation bricks brought in tomorrow to build the wall (can't dig due to lots of dogs wanting to trample the plants). I should have a garden by the end of the week.

    Now comes the problem....

It's already the middle of July and I'm in zone 5.

Any suggestions on which veggies to grow in a hurry? I know about beans, peas, and radishes already. I'd prefer to grow from seed since the stores here aren't known for avoiding chemical fertilizers. The garden will be in full sun and well nourished with vermicompost.

Hello petlady. I am sorry if you already know this , but just in case you dont, now is the time for second plantings of cool weather crops for fall harvest, such as peas, radishes, most greens like spinach, kale, arugula, chard, cress, mustards, lettuces, beets etc~also broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots.....any cool weather crop! These can all go in as seeds now.

Arugula is ready in just a few weeks and is sooo yummy.
