    Default Sunflower sprouts are dying

    Hi There,

This is my second attempt to grow sunflower sprouts in a soil tray. Yesterday they began to lift up the tray that was covering them so I took it off and they looked very healthy.

This morning when I go out to see them they are all laying on their sides as it they had been smashed.

This is the second time this has happened. What could be causing this?

I am watering them with a spray bottle 15 oz bottle tap water mixed with 8 drops of Kelp fertilizer.

They are outside on a shelf in the shade (out of direct sunlight).

Oh nevermind I figured it out.

I put a parsley plant on the same ledge and it also leaned over to the right. Its under an awning and the sun was shining thru on that one spot.

The plants where leaning over to get full blast of sunlight!

So it seems that only wheatgrass can i grow on that ledge from now on.

    The wheatgrass doesnt lean.

I'm glad you figured out what the problem is! Growing sprouts in limited space can be a challenge, but it is a fun and exciting adventure.
I am in a cramped dorm room, yet I still grow a lot of my own food! Also, the sprouts can be quite pretty. They really brighten up the room, while adding oxygen to the air. People are always stopping by to see what's growing!

I'm thinking about investing in LED growing lights to complement sunlight for trays of micro-greens. Anyone have any experience with these?

I am no expert but this is what i have been told and it seems to be working.

Soak your seeds overnight, then rinse and drain either let them in a past strainer or a sprouting jar upside down into a dish rack, once they start to sprout, place them on the top of the dirt and water them. I have one batch where i put too much seeds but this is growing and doing well anyway. The second batch i poke a little hole under nif to let the water drain to prevent mold. I first started to have mold with my first batch, but once i place them outside in the sun, it seemed to have cure the problem.

    Best luck!
    Blessings and love
