Blood type and what you eat
I went to the health food store today to get some stuff like st johns wort and vervain to naturally treat anxiety and depression. The lady told me Gaba is the same and she knows it works and gave me acidophilus for acne. She also gave me a paper that tells you what food are highly beneficial neutral and which should be avoided according to your blood type! I thought this was interesting has anyone else heard anything about bloodtype and diet?

blood type
She was referring to P D;Adamo's book "Eat Right for Your Type" which came out in the mid to late '90s. While it still has a following, there has been some questions raised lately as to the validity of his claims.

Just for your info, I am type "O", which mean I should be eating tons of meat and protein, I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years, and raw for about 4, feel great, and couldn't eat meat if they held a gun to my head.
So, NO, this type of diet doesn't hold true.

Joel Fuhrman gave Adamo's book a quite-in-depth slating, in his book, 'Eat To Live'. Fuhrman points out that many of Adamo's claims are totally unsubstantiated, a conclusion rawpriestess's findings seem to support.
Personally, I wasn't impressed with 'Eat Right For Your Type', either.

you can always focus on the RAW foods mentioned in the book that are ment for your blood type.. and ignore the rest.. and see how you feel with that.
ive heard lots of raw foodist have had big success following the blood type diet... except with their raw foods :)
PS.. blood type 0 doesnt nessarely mean eat lots of meat.. it means blood type O's need more " protien "... which is very true for myself..
im a blood type O.. crave and want NO meat... but i do VERY poorly on the raw diet without sufficient protien!

Yes well my naturopath believed in the blood type diet. I am a "B" and spose to eat meat (have been a vegetarian for 10 years and have never craved meat). I am also apparently the only blood type that can process dairy products however I have never liked the taste of milk (when Mum wasn't looking my milk ended up down the toiliet/in the sink/in the pot plant/in someone elses glass etc. etc.), and I don't really have any desire to eat cheese (except on pizza in my SAD days). I don't quite agree with it coz shouldn't I enjoy the taste/or crave the foods that are beneficial to me. Also two of my favourite foods that I can't live with out (avocado and coconut) are on my avoid list. Anyways thats my 2 cents worth.

Yes ,Ive heard about it (and I think *some* things ARE right ) like Im an "o" as well ,and Im not supposed to have cashews ,this is true FOR ME ,but IT DOES say I should eat "lean" meats - I would be vomiting FOR DAYS (sorry tmi ) ,and supposedly its all based on our "ancestors" ,yet my dad (who lives up to the texas "lifestyle" ) is an "A" and is supposed to eat completley vegan --- so that always seemed strange!
fairies eat raw!

I'm type A and started my health improvements by following "eating 4 your blood type". Maybe I'm lucky that A is vegatarian. But, so many of my aches and pains went away by eating this way. I feel like I am refining my diet by goig raw. So for me, as an A, this was the beginning of learning how to eat to improve my health. I have to support his work, merely because it worked for me.

FWIW I'm A too and found it easy to go ovo-lacto, then vegan.

So does all this diet by your blood type go deeper into if you are rh negative (which I am)? I am trying to google some stuff on it but am only finding stuff about alien/human hybrids!

Not too many raw food books have much science behind them. Where is the references to medical journals?
With great power comes great responsibility.

I'd like to see more science too. While I can readily accept that raw fruits/veggies by and large are more nutritious than ones cooked into oblivion, it would be a lot easier to recommend a raw diet to to people with a bit more rigor to back it up. "Good vibration" vs "Bad vibration" alone will surely lead some people to dismiss the whole thing. I asked on a mailing list what exactly the much-discussed toxins are, and the only response I got spoke of pesticides and preservatives. While those are indeed undesireable things, they argue for an organic, fresh diet, not for a raw vs. cooked diet.
Just to be clear, I'm eating mostly raw, and have been vegan for some time. I'm not arguing against a raw diet - I'd just like to see some data to back up the vague claims I've read.
