    Default buckwheat troubles

is there a trick to sprouting buckwheat? I soaked them for an hour or so yesterday morning...and still nuthin'.

They are supposed to be the raw kind-they are tannish/greenish and definately not kasha...

    any thoughts?

I soak mine for 4-6 hours, then sprout for 12 hours. 1 hour may not be enough time.

Hmmm, strange. I soak for 30 minutes to an hour, then rinse, rinse, rinse and no problems. I sprout buckwheat almost every week. Did you rinse really well to get the funny slime off? Buckwheat is unlike other sprouts in the slime department!

I read that I shouldn't do it for more than 20 min! I will go soak them again and see what happens. Thanks!

Did you read that on sproutpeople? I trust them above anyone else for sprouting info. Any time I don't know, I go straight there. Never fails me.

Are you sure they are groats? (meaning, the hulls are off already).
