Oooh, those are really, really nutritious! And tasty. Soak them overnight or for a lot of the day. Then drain them and rinse/drain a few times a day for a few days. Then put them in INDIRECT sunlight almost like you would with wheatgrass on the last day. :)

You can find out a whole lot about sprouting from the Sprout People. Here is a link to the basics:

In Alissa's book there is a chart that tells you about almost any type of seed that you can sprout. How long to soak it and how long to sprout it etc. Gotta love her book!

Gosh, I wish there was a sprouting for dummies book. You guys make it sound easy and my sprouts look awful. I'm doing alfalfa right now and they look nothing like what's in the store.
And I don't if I should wait for them to look more normal or what. They've been sprouting 2 days.

It should take another couple days --- the secret is to rinse, rinse, rinse. And they should NOT be wet -- you need a good water drainage system so they are merely moist.

Does that help? What kind of sprouting system are you using?

My sprouts don't look like the store sprouts either. They do something "special" to make them grow long and straight and of course they're very white, too (no chlorophyll). Do yours taste good?

I haven't tasted them yet, but I'm just using a mesh colander to house them. I have a jar with a sprout top, but I haven't felt like using it.
Thanks for the advice...I'll wait a few more days.
