new to raw and menopause
I am 53, been going through menopause, have multiple chemical sensitivities, and have severe vertigo. I cannot use Alissa's book because of the glossy paper, which causes me to have migraines. I have been raw a little before menopause, but these symptoms, especially the vertigo, can be frightening! A type of hormone therapy pill helped the vertigo but I couldn't handle it because of the chemicals. So, I have no idea what is in Alissa's book but could sure need some help here. Is there any way that anyone here could help me out? The dvd would take me forever to get through because of my electrical sensitivities. Thanks. You can email me privately if that would help. Thanks.
I too am 53 and I too am trying to go through menapause. I have been on this raw journey for over 4 years. I have been 100% raw for months, then slipped to 98%, slipped a little more to 95%, then the past several months have been 85-90%. But this month I once again decided my body needed to be 100%. Thus far, I have done it mostly -- I'd call it 99.9%.
So why all that information? To let you know that while I am 100% raw, the menapause thing is non-existent. I know a lot of that has to do with some heridity and I am proabably lucky in that department.
As for as Alissa's book. Yes, it is a good read and some good recipes. But not necessary. I find that the simipler I eat the better I feel. And it is so much easier. Fruit, Veggies, Green Smoothies, Nuts, Seeds. . . if you can handle the electrical vibes, check out the recipe site on here. Lots of good ones. And lots of complicated ones. And lots of very expensive ones.
Me? Give me a banana or a watermelon -- I'm happy. I make green smoothies because research has shown they are so good for us. I don't love them, but I have started eating one a day. They usually make me sleepy, I figure something is really churning in me. . .hope it is good.
If I think I need something sweet, I grap a few dates or mix up some nuts, dates, carob, cocoanut, and honey (small food processor). Eat what I need and put the rest in the refrigerator pressed in a flat container to cut up later.
Years ago, someone wise told me that for every 7 years of eating SAD, it would take one raw year to heal. So for me, starting at age 49, I should be in pretty good shape by the time I am 56. Three years to go. I know I have improved drastically in the past 4 years. . . so many aches and pains that I thought I'd live with the rest of my life are gone.
I wish you luck. I will pray for you healing. Blessings!
