    Default Vitamix for juicing??

    Hello everyone,

I dont have a juicer or a food processor- I only have a very old and crappy blender! I am looking into purchasing a Vitamix but I wanted to post here first. They are so expensive so I was wondering if a Vitamix is all I will need? Or am I better off buying both a food processor and juicer?

I need something that I can use to help me with juicing and with preparing raw foods. Thank you for any tips!!

go with the vita-mix without a doubt you will LOVE it! lots of people do juicing with them. you just need to pick up a $2 paint strainer bag from home depot and strain your juice after you blend it up. ;)

I juice with my vitamix. It's really quick and easy. Also, the juice is delicious! The only raw food appliance that I own is a vitamix and I am just fine.

Default I love my Vitamix too. It's wonderful for fruit

type drinks. For veggie drinks, follow recipes until you get the hang of it. Makes wonderful smoothies and ice "creams".Easier to clean than a juicer.

I have a Vitamix and an Omega 8003 juicer. Guess where my Vitamix is and where my juicer is? The juicer is on the counter and the Vitamix is under the counter. I seldom use it after getting the 8003. You may be different but thats just me.

I think it depends on how pulpy you want your juice :)

I have a Champion Juicer and a Vitamix more recently. I haven't tried juicing in the Vitamix and straining, but I do love my Champion juicer (just doesn't do wheat grass or leafy greens well). I can juice enough for all six of our family quickly. The fiber goes in the compost, or in another dish.

I like the Vitamix too. I use it quite often and appreciate that I can "warm" things up a bit in there if I leave it on longer. I think the Vitamix definately has more applications of use than just a juicer. So if you can only get one...I would get the Vitamix and use a strainer as someone suggested. :0)

i have a vitamix blender and a green star juicer. i mostly use the vitamix but everybody else in my house uses the green star. the only way i can make them consume a smoothie is if its like 100% sweet berries, but they gladly will drink juice from stuff like carrots.

i will tell you this though using the green star is about 10X more work than using the vitamix.

if you have good teeth and determination you don't need any appliances to eat healthy. but a blender can simplify the process of getting certain foods in. besides, i would rather be wearing down a $50 vitamix blade assembly than $1,000 gold crowns.

beyond a blender a juicer doesn't so much simplify ( there is nothing simple about washing green star ) as it ENABLES you to consume an amount of raw nutrients that otherwise simply would not be possible. you can only consume so much fiber before you run into problems - but you can consume as much juice as you want.

i would say if you want to go 100% raw you will need to juice. if you simply want to eat healthy you can do with just smoothies. i haven't tried juicing with vitamix.

i still don't have a food processor or a dehydrator. i think those are luxuries.

since i started leaning raw, aside from blender and juicer i have purchased a second fridge. the old fridge is in the kitchen, has SAD food inside and is shared by everybody in the household. the new fridge has only health food, i don't share it with anybody, and it is located in my room.

this second fridge helps greatly in my effort to eat healthy. living food, due to high water content, takes up a lot of space and due to being alive requires refrigeration.

one of the reasons most people are on SAD diet in the first place is because living food is difficult to keep fresh. potato chips don't take up space and never go bad, which ultimately makes them cheap and convenient which is why the average person eats them. living food diet on the other hand is not cheap nor is it convenient - but you get what you pay for.
