multi-layered question
Ok, I am a mom to a 22 month old. We are still a nursing couple. I was raw when I conceived but did not stay raw. Just days after I found out I went off raw. (What was I thinking???) Anyways, here we are almost 2 years later. I finally jumped back on the band wagon and am now 99% raw. The only real exception is salad dressing. I am still stuck on ranch.
So I am trying to gauge how much to eat. I eat a good amount. I am 162 pounds, or I was when I switched back to raw last week, I think I lost 2 pounds since then. So my questions are these, do I feed myself like I am feeding the 160 something pound body? Or do I feed myself less? I know my stomach needs to shrink some. Yet I feel hungry - often. I try to eat every time I feel hungry. Should I drink more water, instead of food?
Also, I cannot seem to tell if my milk supply has decreased some or if because the flavor has changed and he likes it more, he is nursing more and actually taking both sides more often. He used to just nurse mainly on one side. But now looks at me with a big grin and says "side", translation he wants the other side. I am eating a lot more fruit than I used to, could that be it?
Thank you for reading this.
I am whole heartedly staying raw from here on in.
Warmly,
Jill

Hi Jill,
Rule of thumb ~ eat what you want, when you want long as it's raw. As far as water goes, many don't drink much. Personally I've found that, even with an abundance of juicy fruit this summer I still drink water as fruit IS a cleanser and I do urinate more.
IF you are eating dehydrated foods you definitely need to add more water to your food program.
Good for you for breastfeeding this long!!! How lucky your child is!
btw ~ someone did post a recipe here for ranch dressing. If you go up to the 'nana and click on it ~ type in ranch dressing and it'll most likely come up for you.
Injoy ~

Eat when you are hungry! That is the rule around here.
If you are breastfeeding, not only keep eating, but also include lots of water. And, though I don't know for sure, but I think that including alot more fruits into your diet, has got the attention of your child! More, more and both sides! :)
Blessings.

multi-layered question
Thank you for your advice. I paid attention today while nursing him to sleep for his nap, and I felt the let-down and heard him gulping. I think it is the new flavors he likes. :)
I will have to look up that ranch dressing recipe. Thank you.
No, I do not look at it as he is lucky perse to nurse this long, it is his born right. At least in my eyes....
Thank you again, and I will drink more water.
Warmly,
Jill

Jill, let's just say he is very BLESSED and lucky to have a mom such as you in THIS day and age of "give-'em-a-bottle-of-formula-and-add-some-rice-cereal-to-it-so-he'll-stay-full-and-sleep-longer" moms! ;)
Also, ITA with the other ladies who said to eat when you feel hungry. I, too, am still nursing my 27 month old! Love to see other extended-nursing moms!

My little boy will be 4 July 14th and we still nurse. I nursed my 1st till she was 18 months and my 2nd till she was 23 months. My reasons for weaning were do to my 1st pregnancy beigh high risk. So with each pregnancy I weaned when I started getting braxton hicks (preterm contractions) and did not want to risk anyone.
Hats off to you! I agree with rawkinlocs, extended nursing mommies are to be commended in the age of "give-'em-a-bottle-of-formula-and-add-some-rice-cereal-to-it-so-he'll-stay-full-and-sleep-longer" moms!
BRAVO....BRAVO!

If this was for me, I wasn't looking through your eyes, I was looking through mine as I cannot for the life of me get people to understand how important it is to breastfeed if one can ~ for all parties involved.
