    Default What are you growing?

Hi, I was just wondering what everyone is growing?

My kids have started watermelon, acorn squash, and pumpkin. They have also started hollyhocks, marigolds, and morning glories.

I've started leaf lettuce. What other kind of greens would you recommend?
I don't have a whole lot of space (gave most of it to the kids--I want to get them hooked on gardening).

Celery, red cabbage, red leaf lettuce, 3 types of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, dandelions, blood oranges, figs, mint. Probably going to add some bell peppers and strawberries to the mix and maybe a couple more trees (dwarf, in pots).

Right now I have swiss chard, kale, broccoli, spinach, mescaline, oregano, basil, thyme, parsley, stevia and will probably be putting my tomato and pepper plants in in the next wk or so. Currently thinning out/transplanting flower seedlings sown from seeds saved from last yr (ie marigolds, zinnias, sunflowers, etc) and bulbs (king coleus, dahlias, etc). Got numerous flowering shrubs, fruit tree seedlings, perrenials, and planters full of annuals, and am always looking for a space and place to plant even more ~ Cathy

Right now our funky weather hinders me from doing much planting outdoors. Inside trying to get seeds going: tomatoes, lots of variety, cukes are doing fabulous squashes. I'm usually a great gardener, but at the moment CO has been so up and down in weather I can't seem to get out and work the great land yet. I always end up buying lots of veggie plants too so I'm sure this is no exception.

we got some raised 4x10 beds built this year in the back yard and I have all sorts of baby greens (ate a smallsalad from themthis week yay!) ,spinach, lettuce of several kinds, kale, swiss chard, tomatoes and cukes (not in the ground yet, still spending the night in the shed), peas, edible flowers. In a week my husband and daughter wil be planting pumpkin and squash seeds around the beds near the fence. In the house we have tiny peppers coming up,as well as basil sprouts, and in the front yard the herb garden is underway( a 3 yr project finally getting done) with 3 rosemarys, 3 oreganos, stevia, savory, several thymes, chives, wild strawberries, a grape vine, assorted butterfly flowers andother decorative plants, lots o sage, lemon balm, I am prolly leaving something out=)

I am contemplating a strawberry bed and a leek bed if all goes well. It is a gift to finally have the energy to get this going!!

This year I'm adding flowers to my vegetable garden just for the pure joy and beauty of them.

I get carried away. I would love to stop growing weeds though so I could grow more food and flowers.

Since I live in an apartment, I've got pots on my small porch of tomatos, parsley, dill, orange mint, and hope to add some more things soon. So far, everything's growing very well.

We've added chives, bell peppers and strawberries. We've also got jasmine, pregnant onion, wildflowers, poppies, pansies, and aloe vera.
