Paul Nison lecture and raw food dinner

I'm so excited! This guy, whom I've never heard of, but he is apparently well known in the raw food world, is preparing a raw food dinner and giving a lecture on the benefits of raw food tomorrow. It's an event sponsored by our local food coop and the Universalist Unitarian church.

I don't really care about the lecture (unless he has something new to tell me) but the thought of someone else preparing my meal just thrills me!!! The closest raw restaurant is in Chicago (a 5 or 6 hrs drive from here) so I am over-the-moon about this.

Just had to share!!!!

I just went to one of his lectures too and absolutely loved it! He's a great speaker, and even though I knew a lot of it already, it was great getting another perspective on things and to hear another personal story of how raw foods changed a life. Plus I found him to be absolutely hilarious!

Carol, it was fun...he has a killer sense of humor! Actually, he didn't prepare the food, I guess. It was prepared by a local woman, who is trying to start up a local cooperative--I was on lots of painkillers at the time, so my memory is not that great, but it sounded really interesting!

I went with a friend that is really new to the raw lifestyle, and she said later that she was really inspired! I can't say that I learned anything all that new to me, but I enjoyed myself anyway. I may buy some of his books--I didn't feel up to standing in line to buy them that night. (recent surgery)

The meal was great: Yellow squash spaghetti with two kinds of sauce (an alfredo-similiar white sauce and a marinara-type sauce), avocado-kale salad, and mango-lime pudding sweetened with dates. Just having someone else prepare my food was great!! (I wish we had a local raw restaurant!) The person who coordinated the dinner said she will email out the recipes.

That's so cool that he stays at your home. He did mention that he doesn't stay at hotels much when he travels, that he prefers to stay with people in the area.

Glad Paul's lecture was valuable. When he stays here he doesn't eat or brings something with him. I think he forgets about eating. He doesn't eat late either.

You wouldn't know he was here. He comes and goes as he pleases. He's like part of the family and I don't have to worry about anything when he is here. He fits right in. I don't know when he's coming back next, but he knows his bed is waiting.
