Met up with a friend at Berkeley's Cafe Gratitude to Kick off our raw challenge for April. Enjoyed it much more than the one in San Francisco!

(**Cafe Gratitude is not all raw, so watch what you order!)

We had-

Juice:

"I am rejuvenated"- Wheatgrass, apple, ginger, lemon, and naturally sparkling water. -- My friend ordered this as well and felt it tasted "grassy" but drank the whole thing! I enjoyed it and found it very refreshing.

Entree:

"I am Elated"- Their enchilada of the day wrapped in a living veggie tortilla with some sort of cashew/tomato filling. I subbed greens for the grains that come on the side. Glad I did-- it was still yummy and the greens added great balance to an otherwise heavy meal! I paid a whopping $3 for maybe one tablespoon of guacamole on the side, though...

My friend had the "I am Cheerful" live sun burger and was impressed with how successfully it mocked meat in both flavor and consistency. I had a little taste and sort of wished I had ordered the burger too! The ketchup was good (I found the flavor pretty close to SAD ketchup but she didn't) but I thought the bread the burger sat on was too sweet and I wouldn't have eaten it. My friend liked it though.

Dessert:

We shared the "I am perfect" -- A really yummy but REALLY filling pecan pie we took to go. I am sort of glad it dropped on the floor, though, because we were full but would have devoured the whole thing and I was beginning to feel some sort of gag reflex kicked in.

The cafe gratitude in Berkeley is much bigger than the one in San Francisco and they have LOTS of little extras for sale; sprouted buckwheat crackers, truffles, kombucha, and even Ice Cream!! As well as cookbooks (Including Alissa's!) and jars of nut and cacao butters. I was tempted to buy everything in sight but decided that I had spent enough on lunch, which came to nearly $50 between the two of us... But for a little indulgence every once in a while, cafe gratitude is a great way to go! (If only for the desserts!)
