Raw Restraunts in NY
Hi everyone! I am going for a trip to NY and Boston. I already know I will be eating at Grezzo, but am wondering where to eat in NY? Pure food and Wine looks Delicious but with no prices listed on their menu, I am a little nervous. I am a grad student on a limited budget. So for anyone who has been to pure food and wine could you let me know what to expect price wise, and also some other restraunts in the area. Thanks. Rosy

Wish I could help but it REALLY sounds like fun ......have a great time. Let us know which ones you go to and what you liked best.

Pure Food does have prices on their menu...or at least, they did like a week ago when I last checked. It's between $20-$28 per entree for most things. Smoothies are about $8 give or take depending on what you like. I don't remember offhand how much appetizers are.
It's expensive but SOOOO amazingly good.
I've heard good things about Bonobos, Caravan of Dreams, and Quintessance. Have only been to Pure Food...and if you're in NY you really shouldn't miss it.

NY & Boston places
Yes, look at the restaurant list in the guide that Snoozy posted. In NYC I have eaten at Pure Food & Wine, Quintessence, Caravan of Dreams, Jubb's Longevity, and Westerly Natural Market.
Westerly is the most "cost effective", with delicious raw prepared foods at grad student prices. Not a restaurant, but this is where you want to grab your lunch.
Pure Food & Wine is simply amazing, and it has top of the line NYC prices (which is fair given the quality of the food and the decor). The others are also excellent, you won't go wrong at any of them. I can't wait to try the rest on the list.
In Boston, Grezzo is new and fabulous (and pricey for a grad student, but hey, it's a treat), and I highly recommend Organic Garden in Beverly (a northern suburb) which has a large menu and suburban prices, and is one of the grand-daddys of the raw food movement.
Let us know where you go and what you think!

I'm confused, I thought Grezzo was outside of Boston...is it in the city limits? I'd love to go but not sure if it's do-able by bus.

Grezzo is in the North End of Boston
Grezzo is in Boston's North End. Boston is a very walkable city, you can easily walk to Grezzo from any part of the downtown area. It's a 5-10 minute walk from the City Hall (aka Govt Center) --- just head down Hanover St to Prince St (the street sign is poorly placed but you'll find it :-)
Hey, if folks are going, please tell the list and we can join you. It's a really fun place!

As a matter of fact, I'll be driving up w a friend to Grezzo's sometime in August. Sure would be nice to meet up with some other friendly faces from RFT. ~ Cathy

Out of towners to Grezzo
By all means, if anyone is coming to Boston to try Grezzo, it's more fun with friends ... you get to taste more dishes that way :-)
Please start a thread and we'll gather some folks.

A sign-up for a raw food meet-up at Grezzo has already been started in the "I went to Grezzo" thread. Hope to see you there on Aug 10th! ~ Cathy
