    Default just getting started

I have been looking at raw for over a year now. I have tried it a few times,
but was never able to stay with it. I am now 56. I am 5'2" and weigh 185.
Of course my first goal is to loose weight. I also have diabetis. My worst time is between 2-5pm. I simply loose control, any suggestions? With my medical conditions raw seems to be the best way to go. I am looking forward to the challenge. Has anyone out there overcome diabetis? I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Many people have had good luck healing diabetes with a raw diet. You can do a search -see up at the top under the banana. Best wishes to you!!!!

Hi Judy, we have alot in common. I've not been diagnosed with diabetes but it runs in my family. I'm 50, and 5'4 and weigh 200, and I've been around for a year myself. I'm really doing it this time!

I don't have any personal experience with diabetes but I can relate to my weakest food choice time around 2~ish.....I started juicing...and it really helps...now I have a "habit" of juicing (mainly veggies) at 10am...and then at around 2pm...it has helped me a lot... :) hope that helps a little!

My mom is diabetic and she eats protein in the afternoon. It really helps get her over that mid-afternoon slump. Almond butter on flax crackers? Or almond butter with celery & 1/2 apple?

Actually, to be really clear, the lifestyle runs in your family. Nice to know, you don't have to run with it, eh? :)

You might want to try a green juice combination of cucumber, zuchinni and celery. It will curb your cravings, as much if not more than a green smoothie, and won't adversely affect your sugar levels. As much as you may not want to try it. . . give it a go. . . you will be surprised at how refreshing it is and how satisified it keeps you.

My manbear has diabetes. But not for long. Since becomming raw in January he has lost 30 lbs. He's off his cholesterol meds and has reduced his insulin by half. He was taking a slow acting shot and a fast acting shot every morning and every evening for the last 14 years. His doctor was amazed during his last check up. And she's a military doctor at that! She says keep doing what he's doing and he'll be off insulin in a few months. She totally supports our raw lifestyle which really motivates him more. I think the key to sticking with this is being creative in the kitchen. The craving dissapear and your're never hungry! We're both 54 and feel really good. We blew it once for a few weeks and everything came back. We won't be doing that again. Were back on track and his blood sugars are normal again. We love raw and it has brought us closer. It's also fun when you're doing it with someone else. Hope this helps you.

Default When ever i eat anything

with oil in it, I feel filled faster and longer. Eat seeds, avocados, coconut oil on things, chocolate items.

Most of Allisa's recipes have oil in them. It makes a big difference.

I'm 55 and about 25 lbs. overweight. and diabetic. and 5'4". Go figure!!!! for me it helps as soon as I come home from grocery store I wash everything and put in containers so it ready and I won't be tempted to be lazy and something I shouldn't . I've read many posts about diabetics not being able to eat fruit. Before raw that was the case. but now I still have to be careful not to overdo but I can have a little fruit say in my smoothie or maybe 1/2 apple with a few nuts for a snack without my sugars elevating. Trial and error. Test Test Test. Suzy;)
