Default I'm trying to sprout brown sesame seeds.

Has anyone does this and if so please help me through it.
Also when they did sprout how did you use them? I'm thinking salad but that's about all.

    Hi Bethanie -

I am sorry you are having problems, but glad I am not alone!

I posted about this http://rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=20311 a while back and did not get a definitive answer.

Has anyone here sprouted sesame and actually seen tails?

I have been trying and trying to sprout sesame seeds and they won't sprout. Maybe it's location (am in the US/MD) and where the merchant gets them from? When I was in Puerto Rico though, they sprouted successfully, so this leads me to believe the ones I get here aren't viable. The tails were very cute too and a little curly so I know they will sprout.

Maybe you have some hybrid variety of sesame?
Sadly, many species of plants grown for human consumption have seeds that are nonviable.

i have NEVER been able to get them to sprout. frustrating. because anne wigmore talks about it in her books sprouting them and also alot of books list sprouting times for them. dont know if this is true but ive also heard the white ones are usually warm temperature dried and not really raw either..that woudl be interesting if even the brown ones arent viable and maybe not really raw either....

Yeah kaybee, that's the only time I saw them sprout, when I was at A. Wigmore's, and I saw that they had other seeds from Whole Fs though I'm not sure where they got the ses seeds.

Rawstrength, I'm not sure but I'll surely ask the owner of the local health store that I go to about this. I'm curious as well.
