Default You can count me in!

Hi everyone. I've been reading here for a very long time, and although I've tried raw a few times (made it 5 weeks once), I am READY to commit now. I just ordered Alissa's book, and "Green For Life", and "Ani's Raw Food Kitchen". I already own an Excaliber dehydrator, a blender, and a food processor. I just came from the store and my fridge is now full of awesome stuff. I went to a new restaurant supply, and they had some great prices (especially considering it's winter here in upstate NY). I bought pineapples, cantalopes, avacados, oranges, apples, two kinds of pears, bananas, grapes, celery, carrots, cukes, zucchini, mixed lettuce (3# of baby greens for less than $9!!), radishes, snow peas, mushrooms, red cabbage, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, red bell peppers, jalapeno's, did I forget anything??? I already have flax seeds and all sorts of raw nuts.

I decided to put this here as I just recently turned 50 and I love the idea of an "Over 50" group. I would like to lose some weight and become more active. Turning 50 was very, very hard for me. I went into a terrible funk, and I want to be in charge of my life again. I've been a vegetarian for most of my life but I felt so great when I was raw!

Now I need to find a recipe for salad dressing, and go chop some stuff for salads. I work evening shift in a hospital so I take my dinner with me. I already know that I love every kind of green drink combo there is, so that part will be easy.

I need to get into a routine ~ walking before work, as soon as the weather starts to warm up a little, and the wind dies down :) .

    Wish me luck!

I'm on day 5 without caffiene. I have had the most awful headaches. Still waiting for my raw books to arrive. I lost a pound, and I took my blood pressure yesterday and it was GREAT! It's been running quite high the last few months. Everyone at work was amazed (I work in a hospital and we all take our bp regularly). "That can't be your reading!" they said, and I told them about how I've been eating. Wish I could say I felt great, but I don't. I'm full of mucus, super-tired, and my head hurts. I know this is detoxing but it's no fun.

Thank you, ladies. I've signed up for the April challenge. Did a little shopping today; I'm going to have to look into mail ordering some stuff because the prices in the hfs are soo high! I received all my raw books yesterday, and I LOVE Alissa's book in particular, all I can say is WOW!

I'm really ready to enter a new phase in my life. I was so depressed about turning 50, but there was so much more to it. I'm sick of feeling tired, sick of the extra weight I put on the last few years, sick of feeling concerned about my blood pressure, etc. I don't have to feel this way. I need to get off my butt and make some changes. The extra weight has made me so self-concious that I don't want to go anywhere, and I know it's the reason I'm so tired all the time. This may be unrealistic but I feel like going raw will bring me happiness, in so many ways.

I have my flax seeds soaking for my first attempt at crackers. I have a few kinds of seeds soaking, for sprouting. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Sometimes I think I take things too seriously, so I hope I can have fun with this adventure.
