Signs of pregnancy
Hi,
Do you know (or have experiences) how to recognize, that I'm pregnant without having a menstruation since half a year?!

Take a HPT
If you think you may be pregnant take a home pregnancy test. Some pregnancy symptoms are nausea, extreme fatigue, extremely sore breasts, some food adversions/cravings. Hope you get the answer you are looking for either way

crystalpeople~hello to you. Pregnancy tests are so accurate, they are the best way to go, and fairly inexpensive also. The first sign I had that I was pregnant was my stomach felt odd. To the physical touch it felt hard inside and different.
But again-a test is the only sure way to know, besides time of course.
Best wishes to you. :)

I knew I was pregnant the second I conceived, then a few weeks later, I felt something akin to Sweetgoddess, my tummy felt a little hard, inside. Now the doctor would say I was nuts, but I could tell.
I knew the exact second, date, time etc. and I was right, the doctor was a whole month off.
Anyway, that was almost 40 years ago, and I had several other body changes, I craved lemons, and tomatoes, and ice, I couldnt' get enough of them. I found it very difficult to sleep at night, and could only sleep sitting up in a chair or on the couch. (this is when I was living with my mom, and we had normal furniture)
My hair started getting brittle, my nails too, and I was terribly constipated all the time, my feet and legs cramped up every night, (which is supposed to be a calcium deficiency) and My breast swole up 2 whole sizes.
I gained a massive amount of weight almost overnight, and I got varicos veins, now I was only 14 years old at the time.
I was married, but my 15 year old hubby, couldn't help much, I was the only one working in my whole family of 5 people.
So, life was definitely interesting.

hi,
Thanks for the answers! But I don't want to make a test, because I think we (the women) can do it naturaly; that meens we should feel or know it, without any proof...

Half a year is 6 months. IF you have not had a period in that amount of time and IF you are 6 months pregnant you should be showing by now, PLUS you should be feeling it kick by now too. Peeing often is a sign too.
Have you been sick like with morning sickness?
Do you have regular periods or is this common for you to go 6 months without one?
Love,
Angie

My understanding is that it is not uncommon for women to stop menstrating while raw. I believe I read somewhere that Cherie said she thought it couldn't possibly be nature's intent that we hemmorage once a month. I wonder if this is what's happening here.
Most women I speak with who have been pregnant said that they were aware of it the next morning. The just woke up feeling different. If your only hint that you might be pregnant is the lack of menstration, I think that you are not pregnant.

LOL! I don't think I said it quite that way...maybe that it's not normal to hemorrage heavily
But I DID post a link or two to some discussion on the issue in the Other topics/health related area. It may have been one of the resources I provided that stated this. But yes, I have heard of women who were raw who either had a very light menses for only a couple of days to none at all. It's still being argued as to whether this is healthy or not...we all know that we've always been taught to believe it's a normal, healthy thing to have these long, gruling cycles along with the PMS and all that comes with it. But we're also NOW learning that it doesn't have to be an unpleasant experience and that it doesn't have to be heavy and last 7 days!
Crystalpeople, I agree with what has been said so far about determining pregnancy. True, perhaps women SHOULD know and be able to tell without tests BUT...that requires being in tune with your body and if you are in tune with yours, then you should know or atleast have a hunch even with the absence of menses, especially if you're possibly 6 months along. If not, then maybe a standard test might be what you need to consider.

The Info You're Seeking
Crystalpeople,
This article goes into detail about what you are referring to: Kytka's Pick “Menstruation - - Is it Really Necessary?” August 1, 2002 http://www.waldorfhomeschoolers.com/menstruation.htm
You are absolutely right it has become "normal" but is not "natural". The article even talks about zoo animals that have been returned to a natural diet. They ovulate and do bear young but do not bleed. One woman (don't remember if it was in this article or another one) was raised eating raw, never bled in her life even though she had many children. (She didn't tell the story, her Dr did.)
Hope it helps.

Great article. Thanks for posting!

Yes Great post I read it and all of its links then sent it on to my daughter who is about 75% raw with her 2 boys.

Thanks for all your tips and article, especially to Doe (I couldn't send you an Email back...I don't know why)

Hi There,
Well, I was extrememly tired. And then at about 10 weeks until about 16 weeks I was sick 24 hours a day. If and when you realize you are or might be pregnant you will need to take a pregnancy test at your OBGYN's office so either way, you will know for sure. They won't start your prenatal visits without a positive test and if you have health insurance, they also require a positive test before they will pay for your prenatal visits. Also, I had so many complications and know the importance of medical visits during pregnancy...if you think you, you need to be going to your pre-natal visits, no matter what. It is much more important to have a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby. And if you do believe strongly that women have that intuition, which they do, you will "just know" when you do become pregnant. :) Best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Peace~Vanessa :)

finding out with a quick urine test
sorry, just have to add that as an ultrasound tech i think you need to find out if you are pregnant asap. i have seen too many tragedies that could have been avoided because a woman has had poor prenatal care. i have seen women with term babies and abnormalities and low birth weight, even death, because the mother was either not aware she was pregnant, or in denial or not interested in seeing doctors etc. sorry if this entry is a downer, but this is my specialty. a pregnancy test is just something you can do quickly at home, non invasive and will give you the answer you are seeking. many women have fluctations in their menstrual cycle (hormones, stress, changes in weight can affect your cycle) and many women menstruate or bleed during their pregnancy. please, just find out and then seek a midwife or whatever person you choose (if not a doctor, a nurse etc) to make sure you are on the right path to a healthy delivery.
good luck!!
