    Lightbulb New Englanders . . .

Do you want pounds of greens for free?
You should be taking advantage of the great bounty growing outside in your backyards right now! Now us New Englanders no longer have to be jealous of those raw foodists in the tropics with avocado trees in their backyards ;) . I'm talking about white pine tree needles. Native Americans have been using them as medicine for centuries. They are a nutritious and sustaining food for the winter months, and also help sore throats. According to this study the antioxidants that protect the pine trees from the frost are at their peak at this time of year. Get the power of the pine tree to protect you from the cold! I've been feeling really great since I started including more pine in my diet. I keep pining for more ( I know, I know).
How to prepare it? Just use Aleesha's vitamix wheatgrass method, only with pine needles. The freshly made pine needle juice is really delicious blended with frozen bananas and honey, or just plain ice and honey.
    How does it taste?
It tastes like any other green juice, a bit earthy and a bit bitter, but it smells like a Christmas tree. Curiously, the pulp left over from making the juice smells like freshly cut grass, but not like pine.
What does a white pine tree look like? They are seriously everywhere here in Western MA. Here's a link to a picture of one.
    Stay warm, everyone!
~I am only interested in results. If something works, then an explanation is really just an intellectual exercise. ~

    I keep pining for more

I'm going to have to look around and try this... once I empty my fridge a bit. My mom just left town, so I don't know why I bought SO much food. But free and nutritious food is way better!!
