I am reading a book by Victoria Boutenko who addresses that very issue about going back and forth from cooked to raw. She said that cooked food is addicting. It actually has additives in it that make you crave it. I am only about half way through the book~~I don't have the name of the book right now~~hubby is upstairs sleeping where my book is! But it has to do with 12 steps to raw. It has been a good book for me to read, as these past 6 months since going raw, I too flip flopped. It is interesting that in her book, she said she gave a class and all the students in her class had MAJOR health issues. Even though some of them knew it meant their life, (some had cancer) they were unable to stay on raw. She walks you through addressing the problems of going from cooked to raw and how to stay raw. I just got through the first step (first part of the book is addressing raw vs cooked food etc... and I am really looking forward to reading the other 11 steps. When I can get to my book, I will post the name of it for you.
Belleadonna mentioned a couple of things earlier about tastebuds and eating when we are bored and not hungry. Victoria addresses all this in her book.

That sounds like a book I should definitely read. I have her "Green for Life" book and do refer to it a lot but I would be very interested in knowing the name of her other one which you talk about here. I am beginning RAW food only today (again, but I hope permanently).

The name of the book is "12 steps to raw foods" How to end your dependency on cooked food by Victoria Boutenko I, too, have her green for life book and even though it is a great book, this walks you through how to forego that dependency on SAD diet. As I stated earlier, I am not through with the book yet, but I hope it helps me stay RAW. You have already done the first step with "becoming aware of the problem". She actually states that cooked food is no less an addiction that alcohol, tobacco, etc.... I think this is a book that was well worth the investment and I will be rereading this book over and over again. Good luck to you, me and all those struggling to stay raw.

Isa.......thank you very much for the title. Now that you mention it, I have heard of it before. Of course....I must have read it on Victoria's site. I am going to order it right away. Thank you muchly! Have a great raw day!:)

Islesgirl~~ I am hoping to finish the book today. Yesterday I joined the crew in the fasting threads and started my first fast. I figure if I am going to do this, I am jumping in. Since it is my first fast that I have ever tried, I don't know how long I will be on it, but every day is a bonus to me. In addition to Alissa stating that if you are addicted to cooked food you should go 100% raw, Victoria also advises that. She said that some people, who are not cooked food addicts, are capable of having that 5% or so uncooked food. I can have some uncooked food, such as nama shoyu and flavorings, but I think that in my case, I need to stay raw pretty much 100%. I have fallen off the bandwagon (a lot of us do), but you get back on immediately if possible. I, too, have about 50 lbs to lose, so hopefully by this summer my weight issue will all be a thing of the past.
Best of luck and this is a great site for support
Linda
