Default Oh I'm here - lurking

I have been doing my usual thing - going back and forth from low carb to Raw with binges in between - in other words - getting nowhere. Maybe one of these days I'll manage to read something which helps to allay my fear of food. So if I am so afraid of a heart attack or stroke, why do I binge on unhealthy food? Who to believe - I still don't know which way to go. I long to rid myself of the extra weight but also to feel healthy. Oops! This post was supposed to be in response to someone who just asked if anyone was here in the over 50's group. Yes it was by "pamparred".

Sounds like the place I used to be. I was going back and forth from one thing to another.
Grab a hold on raw and stay with it. You can't keep going back and forth. Stop reading so much stuff and pick one thing and do it!! '
There is a lot of conflicting info out there. If you start doing raw and transition into it slowly your body will begin to tell you what you need. We are often feeding our taste buds and not our bodies. We eat when we are bored and not when we are hungry.
Just start slow and you WILL see the benefits.
I have been eating raw for a month now and I am glad that I stuck with it. It gets better and easier every day.

NO MORE EXCUSES. JUST DO IT!!

    Default For spicyful & belleadonna

Thank you both for your encouraging comments. I re-stocked my fridge with pineapples and papayas and mangoes and have cucumbers, spinach, grapefruit and bananas and berries in the freezer. I am determined to begin the day tomorrow with an orange and lots of grapes instead of my usual coffee which is killing me though I will so miss it. I am going to keep a positive, hopeful attitude throughout the day, remembering how great I will feel after just a few days of eating RAW again. I am quite broke now but will be better able to afford more coconut oil and more nuts and yummy things in May and so I will do the best I can with whatever raw food I can get my hands on. I will post in my blog every night beginning tomorrow. I will be accountable to my blog. I am so looking forward to feeling well and having some energy and hopefully, losing about 60 lbs. by the fall.
    My best to you both.

Default Downing an orange and some grapes

Am feeling hopeful and positive about this. Ignored the craving for coffee - actually I prayed that I wouldn't cave and that I would endure the craving instead. I know one day it will disappear as long as I do my part. So I am sticking to plan and am enjoying some grapes at the moment. I am looking forward to trying something from Matt Amsden's "Rawvolution" book. Any suggestions? Have a great day everyone.:)

You can do this. If you fall, just pick yourself up and start again. There is no crime in slipping up. Just remember, this is for your health not some kind of law that you have to keep!! Good luck.

Good luck to you! If you stick to raw, it will do wonders!! Now that you've committed, read stuff that supports your choice! There are many ideas out there to distract us, but only your own experience will really convince you! Give it a few months on all raw and see how you feel.:)

Alissa's book was very helpful to me--she said to go 100% raw, cold turkey, rather than trying to work yourself into it. For someone like me, who is clearly addicted to cooked food (and sugar!) that was great advice. If I had tried it the other way, I'd be binging on cooked food by now.

I am trying new recipes every day, looking for ones I really really like (things to binge on).

It will be more difficult this fall, when good produce is hard to find here in Ohio, but I'll worry about that later. Right now, it's summer, the produce is good, and I'm going to keep working on this.

    You can too! Good luck!

Hi Donna, I just noticed your post. Actually, I've been doing pretty well this month and today I was 100% raw. I made Alissa's Pizza Bread the other day and froze it. I think it is a bit blah but I like it better than Ani Phyo's Black Sesame Sunflower Seed Bread. I will do better when I find a salad dressing (raw) that I like. Actually, my Greek dressing originally called for olive oil only and not the Hellmann's. Maybe I'll try it that way again. And I must find raw olives. I don't even know what to look for. But we have a great hfs that I will check out for them. Glad you're doing well and loving this way of eating, as I am.

    Islesgirl,
I just read your post-the word "fear" is key here-doing something out of "fear" is never positive...maybe instead of choosing raw in "fear" of heart issues, you might want to try and choose raw, out of love for yourself...
    just a thought.

I too have been doing the same thing. I know that when I am all raw that is when I feel my best, look my best and am the most healthy I have ever been.
Is there going to be a Dec. Challenge here? I feel that would really help...
