Default Which juicer and which blender should I buy?

    Hi all,

I need to find a juicer that can do both wheatgrass as well as oranges (per my bf) and carrots (for me). I was looking at the Omega, but would the Green star be better?

Also, I am going to bite the bullet and upgrade the blender. I am not sure if I should go vitamix, blendtec, or even a breville? I'm so confused right now- there is way to much information out there on blenders and juicers...

I already have all the other cool appliances such as a dehydrator and spiral slicer, so these two will be the last enhancements to my collection. Right now I have a cheap Osterizer blender (works well for what it is, but I want to be able to liquify nuts for milk) and I have a cheapo juicer which I haven't even really used.

Thanks so much for any help! :)

    Hey!

Im not sure if you've heard of it (you probably have) but Ive heard good things about the champion juicer - you can do everything with it! You can juice wheatgrass, oranges, carrots, make nut butters... if I had the money this is the one I would go for :)

As for blenders, I think vitamix is the one that everyone seems to rave about, but again, money is the limiting factor!

From what I have heard though, they are both the top of their categories. Hope that helps!!

blender - vitamix...absolutely amazing, super poweful, super super fast and incredibly easy to clean! have had a few high end blenders before, but vita mix is better by 100% (better than krups or kitchen aid by 1000%)

juicer - i've had a braun before, it was fine...have a green star now and it rocks...don't have much experience with juicers though.

    good luck!

    Hello,

Sorry I can't help out on the blender question but on the juicr I highly, HIGHLY recomend the champion. I have had mine for over six years now, it still runs great and I love it so much. I would be lost on raw without it. I make juices and ice creams and applesauce. It is wonderful!!

With a vitamix you can skip the juicer and just enjoy high fiber super powerful drinks that are easily diluted with water!

It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

The Champion is not good with greens. Heats them. It's GREAT for carrots, nut butters and "ice cream" though.

Green Star IF you feel you need a juicer. I agree w/ LifeAGift... just get a VM and use the rest of your money for fresh fruits and veggies.

yup the vita-mix does a great job with wheatgrass!!! (see my signature)... the champion does wheatgrass but not great.

i have both... champion and vita-mix and honestly i haven't used my champion since the vita-mix came into the house. i will again though, when i do my next juice feast as i'm way too lazy to strain my juices... but that's just me. i'm totally into making this lifestyle easy for me. saving my time for other things is important.

Wow! Ok, maybe I'll just get the vitamix then... How would one make orange juice or wheatgrass shots with a vitamix though? (Thats what my bf wants the juicer for). Or will the vitamix so obliterate the oranges that the juice will be easily made? How do you strain the juice?

(sorry to ask so many questions, but if we can get just one appliance instead of two I will!)

Also, which vitamix should I get? The 4500 seems to be reasonably priced, which is what I'm in the market for right now. But if the 5200 is worth it, I may save up a bit longer and get it instead.

So do you think you could just as easily make wheatgrass in a Blendtec? I just bought one yesterday...for two reasons: cheaper than vitamix, and no parts to change out...one blade does it all. Looks like a winner, esp after watching it blend up golfballs, soda cans, etc, on youtube.

I was thinking to get a blendtec as well! I saw a great deal on one and I've heard it is as good as vitamix.

Ummm, I've only used one blade for the last 10 years. No changing allowed ~ or necessary. ;)

Then why does it say you need to buy a different blade for dry ingredients? I thoroughly looked over their site and they have two...a dry blade and wet one.

Unless you're grinding grains for flour which I have no intention of doing, don't need the dry.
