    Smile Quintessence in NYC

I was recently in NYC where a friend & I visited Quintessence for dinner. The place is so tiny, as some restaurants tend to be in NY! They had a Valentine Day special and we went with that. Here is what was on the menu:
Garlic Bisque soup, salad, stuffed mushrooms, lasagne, chocolate truffles with fresh berries & raspberry sauce. My friend LOVED everything - she has never eaten raw food and absolutely fell in love with it. I thought it was OK. I didn't like how the lasagne was cold, it would have been better at room temp. The service was slow (Saturday night) but the ambience was good. Here is the link to their site: http://www.raw-q.com/
Next time we have a reservation at Pure Food & Wine. I am so excited!!!

speaking of NYC, i have a nice studio apt in Park Slope (Brooklyn), which I was thinking of subleasing as I am going to LA for a few weeks March/April....

so if anyone wants to sublease you can email me....it would be a good raw foodie place as I have a vitamix. dehydrator, food processor, lots of plants, water filters, etc

for all of your needs in the big apple!:)

Good luck Shakti! I know Park Slope is a really pretty and great area. I am sure a very 'raw' resourceful place .

    Default NYC next week

Just found out I'll be in NYC on business next week for 3 days 2 nights. So I'm looking forward to some really good food.

I've eaten at the Pure Food take-out, never the restaurant, so I will make reservations for that.

I ate once at Quintessence. Food was fine, not overwhelmingly memorable like Pure. But I would definitely eat there again.

    My 2 cents,

I ate at Quintessence once and was unimpressed with the taste of the food and quantities.

I look forward to tryng Pure Food and Wine sometime. I hear it is well worth the price.

    All the best,

    Elena

Are Quintessance and Pure Food the only options? I thought there was another one.

    Default NYC raw options

There are actually a bunch of options. I've been to these:

    Pure Food and Wine
and their takeout place via the same kitchen:
    Pure Juice and Take Away
    Quintessence
    Jubb's Longevity
    Caravan of Dreams
    Westerly Natural Foods Market

    I haven't been to:

    Bonobos
    Raw Soul

I just "discovered" Westerly this week. It's not a restaurant, but they have a raw prepared foods counter with about a dozen items each day. What a find! I stopped by on my way to my meeting and picked up lunch each morning. They also have home made raw cakes and pies and fudge and cookies and oh my my I was in heaven

Go here http://restaurants.welikeitraw.com/ to get an idea of more places that are raw friendly and vegan.

Now in Boston we have Organic Garden Cafe and Grezzo, but we still have a long way to go to catch up to NY.

Someday I'll make it to San Fran and LA.

How's Jubbs? I've been to Westerley...used to take classes near there and would buy food on my way. It's great!

    Default Jubbs

Jubbs is a takeout place, I don't recall room to eat in but maybe there was a small table nearby. I only ate there once, but it was delicious.

I don't get to NY all the time, so when I do I try to rotate my visits. I'll go to Jubb's again.
