    Default HyPOthyroid- what to do?

What can one do holistically for hypothyriod? I mean, is it something to worry about?
What are the symptoms? Can raw eventually cure it?

Thanks ahead of time for all your answers!

I've read that eating Kelp and other sea vegetables supports the thyroid because of the iodine and other minerals. I have read of people on RFT that have resolved thyroid problems. (try a search) Exercise is also supposed to help. Here is a list of symptoms I found on line. ( these symptoms are also symptoms of other problems such as adrenal fatigue, so be careful with self diagnosis.)
    Weakness
Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
    Coarse, dry hair
    Dry, rough pale skin
    Hair loss
Cold intolerance (can't tolerate the cold like those around you)
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
    Constipation
    Depression
    Irritability
    Memory loss
    Abnormal menstrual cycles
    Decreased libido

Good Luck to you, and I do think a raw diet can help!

    Default thyroid problem

I have the same problem, but was diagnosed a yr. ago. I am on thyroid medicine and now that I am raw, I have made an appt. with my doctor so she can send me in for a blood test to see if I should reduce my dosage. I know several people with thyroid problems. It can be tricky..I would keep in touch with your doctor so he/she can keep tabs on your blood work. I bet eating raw will help to at least keep the meds you may need to a minimum.
I hope that I will be able to reduce my meds. I have only been raw 10 days, so I am waiting until I have 6 weeks under my belt before I see the doc. Good luck to you! :)

I actually just read yesterday in a book called the healing power of light by primrose cooper that the glands are directly related to our emotions. Specifically the chemicals and transmitters given off by our emotions...I don't know if you're stressed out in anyway or not... but the only advice i know about it to keep smiling and doing what you love everyday!

Thank you Shasibala, Salonmom, Greenday, Nonipixie !

Shasibala, Sea veggies are very yummie. Especially Dulse. I hope those raw kelp noodles over in the other thread with that sauce is as good as they say, cause I'm gonna try me some sea noodles!! I tried the search, to no avail. Maybe it's my old computer here. Those symptoms are just classic. My Thyroid isn't too bad, just two points off what the experts call "normal". So, maybe there is no need to panic I hope.

Salon Mom, congrats on going raw to heal. Me the same. Do you mind telling me your numbers? Mine were just two points off the normal. We have to remember that normal for cooked isn't necessarily normal for raw, right???

Greenday! Exactly what I am doing, although with Coconut butter. Hope it's the same thing, or better.

Nonipixie, Stress is a killer, isn't it? Yes, me has gone thru some of that stuff, LOL!! it's getting better though. That stuff is so interesing the neuro transmitter things. Think positive, right?

    Smile Hypothyroid

I'm just starting the Raw adventure but have hypthyroid and am on meds, which have helped tremendously. I agree with the person that said to keep in touch with your Doctor to have your blood checked periodically.
I also have extremely low numbers for adrenal fatigue. Since I am totally new to this, will this help put the adrenal numbers back in a normal range? Does anyone know?
