Default Been to Le Commensal or other Montreal restaurants?

My husband and I are up for a little getaway. Has anyone been to any good places to eat in Montreal? I would love any feedback. :)

    Thanks!

    Default Aux Vivres

    My favorite (so far) place in Montreal;

    Aux Vivres
4631 Boul. St Laurent, Montreal, Quebec (at between Villeneuve and Mont-Royal) 514-842-3479
    Organic, Vegan, Juice-bar

It is pricey - a lunch for 2 was over $50 US.

But the food is organic, vegan and high quality. Clean place.
    Slow service on occasion.

Soulstar, was that lunch for two with stuff like wine added or was that just a basic lunch?

We are here, walked around all day, went to a China Town market to buy some snacks, etc. but we're planning to go out for dinner and lunch tonight and tomorrow...

I would love to go there at least once if it is FANTASTIC! :)

    More details, pretty please!

    Sorry, i didn't reply sooner.

I ate their almost a year and a half ago, it has been a long time. I can say they really seem to care about the quality of food they serve you, and unlike Commensal, there is a greater sense of life in the food, itself. Commensal is still a wonderful choice, but the food doesn't seem as alive, and is certainly not organic.

We had a sample platter of some of their raw foods,, 2 large salads, 2 smoothies, and split a non raw chocolate truffle type dessert.

Have a great time whatever you choose,

    Elena

Just came back to the hotel for a break and recharge, we're planning on heading there for dinner. :) Thanks for the tip!

    Elena...

Don't worry, I made note of Aux Vivres for next time, and I'll go back soon. :)

But, we were getting ready to go and I checked to make sure they take credit cards just in case, and they don't! We only had about 60 CAD left, and I wasn't sure if it would be enough. AND it had started raining heavily, so we chose to go to le Commensal that was close to our hotel.

I had the impression there would be more raw food than there was, so I enjoyed it but was not able to eat only raw food. My husband was thrilled (he's not raw)...

Soooo, next time, I'll be sure to try your place and to have cash on hand. :)
