    Default Juiced Lacinato Kale Questions

Q: If I run Lacinato Kale maybe about 5 pieces through my juicer am I getting the nutrients or am I missing a lot?

Q: Has anyone tried a Kale, Apple, Carrot, Lemon juice? How did it taste. Do you have any other recipes for juice with kale?

    Thanks

I always juice kale with citrus. Just me!

As for missing the nutrients - it depends on your juicer, and the extent to which it can extract the juice. My Omega 8003 does a fairly good job, though the only way I'd feel 100% satisfied is if the pulp ejected wasn't green anymore! I think juicing is a GREAT way to get greeny goodness.

And Lacinato Kale is awesome, btw.

    My juice recipe:

    1- 1 + 1/2 oranges
    1 bunch kale
    1/2 lime or lemon.

kale is good with anything, really. kale/carrot/apple/ginger is awesome. it helps to put the kale through first and then put something more juicy through, like an apple or pear to make sure you get all the green juice.

kale is really good with oranges. if you have a blender you can put some kale in with oj and blend it up for a green juice; then you don't miss the fiber and goodness the juicer might not give you. (i like to juice citrus by hand in general, i feel like i waste less that way and its easier to clean up.)

I juice lacinto kale with 1 lemon, 7 leaves of kale, 6 stalks of celery, 1/2 apple (or more if you like it sweet), and 1 cucumber. If i have cilantro or parsley, I'll add some of that too.

I do it almost every morning, and it's AWESOME! I'll replace the kale for collards sometimes too.
