    Default Beginner juicer question...

    Hi all...:)
I have never juiced before. Honestly, the sound of all the different juices mixed, oh...it really sounds bad to me. I'll admit I take a very childlike "I don't try new things" attitude, LOL...
I am wondering what a good beginner juice mix would be, something fairly non scary? ;)
I know I'd like simple juices just by themselves, but I'll get bored.
I'm especially interested in anything that would help my energy level.

    Thanks! :)

A few years ago when I first started juicing (before I knew anything about all the raw goodness), I would juice alot of carrots. They are really sweet and make a great base for adding other things in so that you do not taste them. However, I have since heard, you shouldn't rely on them as a base because of the sugar.
I usually just toss whatever I have on hand into my juicer and add an apple to cover the tastes....
Simple things... watermelon juice, by itself is awesome, my kids love it and cantelope. Cucumber by itself isn't bad.

I did two 2-week juice fast this past year and had some great recipes. Two of my favorites were:

    1) Orange - Pineapple - Strawberry - Kale: The kale will turn it green but because the other 3 fruits are so sweet you won't taste the kale at all.

    2) Tomato - Celery - Beet - Parsley: This taste just like a V-8. Yummy!

Did your juicer come with any recipes in it? Mine came with a little book. If so, take a look at it and you'll get some ideas.

    Hope this helps!

I've heard alot say cucumber juice is pretty good. Kind of hard to imagine but worth a try, LOL! I do like cucumbers...but I hear the juice does taste different?
    I'm just not daring!
I think anything with orange juice would be good...banana, strawberry...YUM! :)
    Thanks for the tips!

I would stick with oranges, strawberries & pineapple then add the mix to your blender and add bananas.

I am REALLY picky about green flavor - I don't do green smoothies - so this is my blend, and it tastes REALLY good, because of the lime/lemon.

1/2 bunch kale or collard, or some of both
    1/2 lime or lemon
    1 orange

I swear, the acidity and sourness makes it very do-able.

Apparently there is more calcium in KALE JUICE per oz. than there is in milk, so drink up ye hearties yo ho!
Kale is also high in fiber, which supports the functions of the colon; anti-cancer flavonoids and MSM (essential mineral sulfur); anti-oxidants, which prevent aging and lifestyle-related illnesses; polysaccharides and polyphenols, used to treat allergies; and has twice the calcium—an immunity booster—of milk.

Thanks! Kale is a good idea...it had been suggested to me to help increase energy and help get iron levels up. :)

Strawberry and banana is fairly benign in terms of new or unusual flavours, you ought to be used to them and they just taste sweet and fruity together. If you want a little more sharpness add a bit of kiwi.
