    Default Juicer

Hello, I have a juice man jr and want to up grade. I am haveing trouble decideing between a champion and green star. I would appreciate the benefit of your experience with these juicers, concerning quality of juice, cleaning time and difficulty, noise and time it takes to juice 16 oz of carrots. I plan on juiceing fruits and vegetables as well as wheat grass. I have been juiceing for aprox. 6 months and figure I am 70% raw food diet. I have lost weight, although that was not a goal for me. I am simply amazed at my energy level. Just though I'd throw that in. thanks ron

If you are looking at mostly carrots, the Champion is the way to go. It's a real workhorse as far as carrots go. It can juice all fruits and veggies; make "ice cream" and nut butters yet, does not juice wheatgrass. IF you run it for any length of time, it does heat up. Also, you do have to cut up celery a bit as all the strings do is wrap around the cutter.

The Green Star will juice wheat grass as well as all other veggies. To me, it's a bit quieter yet, takes more work to get carrots in and I cut the carrots at a slant to make it easier for the double rotors to take them. What's fun about th Green Star is watching greens get sucked into the grinder thingies.

Both juicers take approximatley the same time to clean, etc. Noise-wise, I would say the Green Star is a bit quieter.

I've had both (actually, have two Green Stars now) and like the Green Star better. My friend who previously tested all the juicers, said that he felt the Green Star put out a better quality juice; more quantity and the pulp was dryer.

    Hi Ron,

Before I bought my Commerical Champion juicer, I did a lot of research into what kind of masticating juicer I wanted, as I alrady had several centrifugal juicers and citrus juicers, so

this is why I bought mine, although your criteria may be different.

Easy to clean, just 1/4 turn and voila', everything comes off, and you rinse clean

All the attachments, can sit right on the jucier, you don't need to hide them away in a drawer somewhere, and they "try" to find them

It jucies massive amounts of carrots, easily, since I love carrot juice, and grow my own produce, this was important, also I don't have to cut the carrots up first, you just drop them in, one at a time.

It juices just about everything easily, except greens, and celery you need to de-string, so I usually use my vita mix for celery and green juices, and use the whole foods.

It make the best sorbets, or fruit "ice" creams, makes great pate's, and nut butters, although I imagine the green star would do that too.

Now the Green star, or Green Power, or whatever they are calling it these days, I've seen and used, and I didn't like it, I HATE the big green words on the side, and the body looks squatty to me, but I'm an artist, so I like things to "look" good. may not be important to you, also it cost about twice as much as my Commerical Champion, which was $229 at discountjuicers.com

The Green Star labored when I tried to put a carrot through it, so I had to cut up the carrots first, but I hear (although I've never tried it) that it makes green juices, so if you are into greens in juice, it might work better for you, I just use my Vita Mix for any green juice I am making, then strain through a nut milk bag, as when I make green juice, I don't like the bitter taste, so I add fresh lemon and peel, and it isn't bitter anymore, so I do that.

I do hear that the green star has magnets in it, that magnetizes the juice, so it keeps it from oxidating so quickly, personally I drink my juice right away, or this might have been reason enough to buy a green star. But my juice doesn't sit around at all, so it didn't matter to me.

I also liked the ease of use for my grandkids, and they can clean up for themselves, seemed like the green star had a few extra attachments, and took longer to clean, which I didn't care for.

I also know the Commercial Champion has a metal case, so it is very strong.

    Hope this helps.
