Default First Aid for Ingested Sharp Objects

Many of you know this already, but it is well worth repeating ~

Not uncommon for mischievous young pups, or older ones for that matter, to ingest glass ornaments, staples from packaging, etc this time of year.

One tried and true remedy is to feed them cotton balls (not the cosmetic ones made from man-made fibers) dipped in half and half. As the cotton works its way down the digestive track, it will find all the glass (even the tiniest of shards) and wrap itself around them and eliminated safely.

2 balls (torn into small pieces)for dogs under 10 lbs
    3-5 balls for dogs 10-50lbs
    and
    5-7 balls for larger dogs

With four rambuntious pups of my own, I always keep some in the freezer.

What kind of cotton balls do you use if not the cosmetic ones? Could you be more specific? Thanks for your help.

No, not diarrhea from the cream that helps passes all the stuff - it is the fibers in the cotton balls - it sort of wraps itself around all the glass and passes through without causing further damage to the digestive track. ~ C
