    Default Headache after juicing

    Hi,
I have started juicing in the morning somedays instead of my green smoothie. Most of the time it is celery, kale, cucumber, parsley, lemon and apple. I have noticed I get a headache within 30 min to an hour. I am thinking it might be a detox but I also can't always get everything organic so I am wondering if that could be causing it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much,
    Michelle

Sometimes juice can be too extreme for the system...The first time I juiced, I felt kind of weird, but that was it. This morning I just drank about three cups (a normal mason jar) of beet juice and within four minutes of drinking it, I got nauseaus and threw up. I hadn't eaten for a couple of hours, so I don't know what happened. I think that perhaps juices are good for certain people, at certain points in their raw journey. I think I'm going to rely on green smoothies instead...

It could be the juice is affecting your blood sugar too much. The fact that your headache comes about 30 minutes later sounds like it. I get headaches at times because of blood sugar problems. Sometimes I can drink pure juices with no problems and other times I need to water it down. (I don't know if this is causing your headaches though)

It was suggested to me by a nutritionist to add water to my juice; that way you're not getting such a rush of sugar, but you still get all the benefits of raw juice - it also gives you more juice. Before you give up on juices try adding some water and see if that helps. I might take a cup of juice and add anywhere from 1/2- 1 cup of water. (Depends on what I juiced)

No wonder you got ill! Beets should always be mixed with another juice; they really go great with carrots or apples. Beets are also very good for your liver.

I once juiced garlic with some lemon and parsley. OMG! I thought I was going to die. It took about 2 minutes for it to come back up again and it just felt horrible. I had juiced garlic before but had always mixed it with other veggies. I had also made the same mix of garlic, lemon & parsley but blended it and had no problems, but the garlic juice just burned all the way down.

Wow. That garlic juice experience sounds horrible; sorry it happened. Just curious: Are there any other juices that shouldn't be consumed alone? Or are all juices supposed to be mixed together?

    Default Headaches

Michelle it's true I experienced those headaches and Migraine too, and I realised it was because I couldn't always use organic fruits!

When you use non organic you may ingest pesticides, waxes and other toxic substances present in the skin or peel.

Do you want something that works? My advice is scrub every non organic fruit with bicarbonate soda and rinse it thoroughtly before juicing. that seems to help, alternatively removing the whole skin helps too.

So glad this thread got resurrected. I have been experiencing the headaches with juicing too. I will try the dilution solution.
