    Thumbs up

I'm on day 8 as of May 23rd, but I could still use a buddy! I'm trying to go 30 days.

I started with the Master Cleanse and only made it about 4 days before I had to start taking some veggie broth and veggie juice. I guess my body wasn't ready for anything THAT cleansing :)

But I'm sticking strong to juice other than that and would love to have a partner! The hardest part was the first three days. Depending on how much addiction you have (sugar, caffiene, salt, etc.), the withdrawls can be wicked tough. Expect headaches, hunger, fatigue, and crankiness. Try to keep yourself in a non-stressed environment as much as possible.

But HONEST, it does get better and you really will start to feel great by the end of day 3. You won't be hungry any more. Don't get me wrong -- you'll WANT a big juicy cheeseburger, but you won't be HUNGRY for it :)

Best of Luck and enjoy it -- you're doing something amazing for yourself!!!!

I am, in no uncertain terms, no expert in this field myself :)

My understanding is that you should listen, really listen, to your body. When it needs juice, feed it. I don't think there is a limit. Most people drink between 4-8 glasses of fresh juice a day, it seems like from the threads around here. I've read that some people treat it like meals. They will do fruit juice for breakfast, veggie juice for lunch, and fruit juice for dinner. My suggestion would be to research the threads on this site and see what you come up with. But at least for the first three days, I would certainly drink whenever you need to quell the hunger pangs.

Right now, I'm doing the lemonade thing for breakfast (lemon, cayenne pepper, maple syrup), veggie broth or juice for lunch, and fruit juice for dinner. If I get really hungry, I will do another lemonade "snack" in the afternoon or a little more veggie broth. It's not really a plan that I've read anywhere, but it seems to be working really well for me. The important thing is that I am noticing that my body is responding well (energy starting finally to increase, mental clarity slightly increasing).

I really need to do some of the more intense cleansing -- coffee enema, salt water flush, laxative tea -- but I'm afraid to since with kids and all, my schedule never keeps me right near a toilet for very long and, as I understand it, that is a must when doing things like that!!!!! hee hee hee

Stay strong -- today shouldn't be too bad because it's new and exciting. Tonight might be a little more difficult. Try to keep super busy -- that keeps you distracted :)

I did a water fast once for 3 days, (I'm hypoglycemic, so this is NOT a good thing to do)

and I learned several things about fasting.

Drink as much as you want whenever you want

Don't limit yourself in any way

    REST, REST AND MORE REST

this is NOT a marathon, this is a cleansing and clearing out so you will need rest

meditate, and be still, and allow all the stuff, that you stuffed down with food to come up and out, allow this to take place, don't force it.

    be calm and relaxed

    take care of yourself

go inward and upward with your thoughts

allow spirit to be part of you usually a deeper understanding of yourself will accompany a fast.

    Enjoy the process

be super creative with your juices, or be super simply, only YOU will know what works for you

This is a perfect time to read a long involved book, or to call old friends that you haven't spoken to in years, to just sit back and enjoy all of life.

Take long leisurly walks in the woods, gardens, or go to a conservatory or park if there is one in your town.

    Be still

I know this may be difficult to do with kids, and this is how they do it at fasting retreats, it's all about being still, going inward, and being alone with your thoughts.

    good luck on your fast

thank you haz and rawpriestess for your advice!!

I am starting tomorrow , i have prepared myself, and even though i have to work through the whole thing and go to school too, i think because i will be so busy, it will be easier to keep myself on track, and if i get tired, i will just go to bed early, and just take it easy in general. i have been moved up to the older childrens group in the daycare, and they are much lower maintenance so, i think it will be okay, and i will keep on the fast as long as i can ( up to 30 days) ...

i will update in my journal tomorrow, keep the encouragement coming guys!!

haz... keep going strong, you are showing me that it is possible. thankyou!!

Now we're cooking -- well, not really, huh? hee hee :)

Thanks for the advice RawPriestess -- I get so caught up in the idea of the juicing that I forget to take the quiet, still time for myself. Hmmmm, I'm thinking a massage would be the perfect way to remind myself ....

Kelly, you're working with kids in a daycare???? Bless you girl! I'd be addicted to everything that was out there -- caffiene, sugar, heroin, and stronger. I can barely handle my own two on a regular basis and it's been especially testy during my juicing. It takes an awesome person to work with kids all day -- you have my admiration and respect! But I think anyone who can deal with runny noses, whines, and saying "no" eight thousand times a day can do a juicing without a hitch :)

Vegan, if you're feeling yucky, then joining us is the way to go!!!! Although, I will admit that the weight loss is not happening as quickly as I would have hoped. I've only lost eight pounds in now nine days. I know that's quick but considering the fact that I haven't had anything other then the lemonade drink and juice and broth for nine days, I guess I thought it would be higher. Oh well, we'll all hang in there together and keep our eyes on the prize, which isn't really weight loss but clean, healthy, detoxed bodies !!!!!

    We are amazing!!!!!

Just posting to give you all support! I recently juice fasted for 10 days. It was my first time fasting and I loved it. My psoriasis actually got smoother and I lost 10 lbs. I just have to wonder how much more my psoriasis will clear up if I go for 30 days of juice fasting. Maybe I will start again soon when I don't have so much school work on my hands.

Hi Everyone! I started by 2 week juice fast yesterday morning. I had a juice for breakfast and have been drinking some water today. Are you fasting???? I need some motivation to keep it up because there is food around me all the time at home! I took a bath lastnight which helped me keep my mind off food, and watched a movie too that made me sleepy. Anyways, write back and tell me how everything is going. We can help eachother :)

    Cool -- we're growing !!!

    Welcome aboard folks :)

The hardest part for me was the first three days. It seemed like Food was EVERYWHERE!!!! At home, things I never like (tuna casserole, hot dogs, bacon) suddenly smelled like Heaven. And at work, folks were bringing in cakes, cookies, chips, etc. For a moment, I felt as though someone was intentionally taunting me and following me secretly with a camera seeing if I would give in.

The only thing I could do (and still do) is try to stay busy, busy, busy. It did get easier after about the middle of the third day. My hunger and cravings just kind of switched from "insane" to "controllable". Go to bed early, take the time to get the rest you need. If you can, take long, quiet walks. Go to a peaceful, quiet place and catch up on reading. I know it's tough, especially if you have kids. But I just told my husband that he needed to give me the time to do this for myself -- especially if he wanted me to lose weight. That seemed to work as a better argument than if I used the "I need it for me" argument :)

    Hang in there!!!
