Omega rocks!
I finally got time to try my new Omega 8003 to make Alissa's green drink this today. What a fabulous little machine (compared to the big bruiser Green Star 1000 which I returned). Mind you, the Green Star was a good machine for sure, but I just love the Omega. A cinch to clean up compared to the other one and it worked beautifully and quietly and was much cheaper. I'm not "afraid" of it - I was a bit chicken with the Green Star - just in case someone out there is shopping for a juicer.

Thanks, I agree. Plus one can juice wheatgrass in the OMEGA but you can't with the Champion. The Omega comes with all sorts of handy attachments as well.

Is it the chrome or all white plastic one Yana? That's a GOOD price!

I bought the chrome one about a year ago (a late Christmas present to myself) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! You will not be disappointed! You will love it. I love it for making fresh fruit sorbet...or banana ice cream, and of course ANY KIND of juice or pate...
I could go on....it is SUPER QUIET, LIGHTWEIGHT AND TOOOO EASY TO CLEAN.
Hope you love it, I know you will.

How is the cleanup on the Omegas compared to other popular juicers?
-
I don't know about the clean up but i DO know I ordered mine today! Now I cannot wait to grow some wheatgrass and start drinking it! EXCITING!
-
Mine came yesterday, used it today ;D. I love it already, made some apple cucumber juice. Clean up is nothing! Especially if you are used to a centrifugal juicer. You just rince off the removable parts, it's just a few. Couldn't be simpler :)

It is so easy to clean! I actually juiced on Saturday morning. I did not have the time to wash, so I left it on the counter all yucky When my family came home late that evening, I put all the parts in hot soapy water, and rinsed the yuck away. It washed almost as easily as if I had washed it right away. I think, since there are not "teeth" on the grinder thing, it is easy to wash without scrubbing!!
Don't sit on the fence....jump in and get one, you will love it! One of the best purchases I've made in my RAW journey.
Keep us posted!

OP: Why did you return the Green Star? I was just about to order the Omega but with all the reports of shaved plastic powder from the auger making it into the juice/pulp, I'm now 100% sure I DON'T want it. The point of juicing is for health, if it's full of ground up toxic plastic, then the juicer does the opposite of what it should (cause disease rather than prevent it), regardless of how good the juice may taste.
I'm now strongly considering the Green Star, but would like to know why the original poster returned it for an Omega?
Thanks

So sorry it took me so long to get back to you raweater. I just this minute saw your post. Actually, I knew nothing about the reports of shaved plastic powder from the auger. This is terrible! I found that the Green Star was a pain to clean (so many parts) and it was huge and cumbersome. I'd read so many positives about the Omega. Actually now I find myself rarely using it as I am making Green vegetable/fruit smoothies in my vitamix. But I especially liked the Omega for making banana ice cream and for making almond flour. Don't know if this helps at all. It was also cheaper. It is truly a breeze to assemble and to clean. Where did you read those reports?

Some people on here mention the chipping plastic, the online reviews mention the chipping plastic, and my friend with an Omega juicer mentionned the chipping plastic. It seems this is a manufacturing defect applying to all or almost all Omega auger style juicers. I know the Omega looks so good but this issue simply is not acceptable whatsoever.
In any case, I'm glad I did more research as I think I will be much happier with the Green Star, even though it's harder to clean. The only reason I hesitated with the green star was due to how hard it is to clean but when I learnt it could be cleaned in less than 5 minutes than I decided to get it.
It also has several advantages over the Omega:
-33% more juice extracted (in tests, the Omega gets 600ml where the Green Star gets 800ml, even the $2000-3000 Norwalk press only gets 780ml)
-50-200% more vitamins/minerals than other juicers
-Juice that lasts up to 3 days rather than 15 minutes (this can also cut down on cleaning significantly)
-No chipping plastic
