Default Hemp protein, enzymes, and kids

Hello everyone, I am curious (since I am new) if anyone has given their children hemp protein (in morning smoothies) or if they suppliment their SAD eating diet with enzymes? I have read a great deal about the nutritional value of hemp protein and enzymes but nothing on how it relates to kids. How much is a good amount? Should they have any at all? I have been making myself morning smoothies with hemp protein and I would like to know if the amount I put in (2 scoops) is too much if I were to give some of the smoothie to my child? Or should I make another batch of smoothie with less? Same goes for enzymes...I am sold on the health benefits of enzymes - so how do I get enzymes into my 9 and 7 year old - since they are eating cooked food? Unless I do it through the enzyme powder suppliment - in a juice or smoothie? How do all of you (with children) do these things?
    Thanks,
    Donna.

Donnatah, I have given the hemp protein to my children in some of their smoothies. They enjoyed the taste. Unfortunately, I don't measure alot of things, and it was just sprinkled in. But, I can guess! For 2 smoothies, it was probably about 2 tablespoons. I don't even know if that is a regular serving size or not. I am not concerned necessarily about the protein amounts my children take in daily. They get plenty.

They eat about 75% raw. My husband eats a SAD vegetarian diet, and feeds them at least once a week. However, the rest of the time, it is me preparing dinner, and what I have done is slowly incorporate more raw dishes into the dinnner meal. The easiest and first one for me, was the green salad. I just made sure to use raw dressing and fresh produce instead of canned kidney beans etc.. Then I threw in a raw soup course to their dinner in place of something. Now, about 3 times a week, my kids are served 100% raw dinners. Lunches are usually 90% raw with about 4 pieces of fruit.

As far as enzymes go, since they eat a pretty high raw, I don't worry about it.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

    Blessings.

Tracy - if you don't mind me asking...how old are you kids? Mine just REFUSE to eat salad...they like tomatoes, carrot & avocado though..

Caramba, my 3 children are 11, 14 and 14. (No, not twins - one of them is adopted) They have eaten salad greens very easily, so that is not an issue. However, my daughter has a tougher time with darker greens. But, I make her take 1 bite of it, everytime I serve greens. She does not have to finish the serving, but before she leaves the table, she must take one bite. After 14 years, she finally ate a collard green wrap! I almost fell out of my seat.

I have 3 children who are about 90% raw. I must say that I am a stay home mom and I consider my home and my family my job, my joy, my life. I am in the kitchen 95% of the day, everyday (except for weekends, then we pack a lot of snacks for the road). It does get trying at times. I have come to a conclusion that like breastmilk which is perfect for infants and 100% bioavailable for digestion, hence an infant must nurse often, so to is natural raw food. And so my kids eat ALL DAY long. We usually have a berry breakfast of some sort. sometimes oatmeal, sliced grapefruits or pancakes from a recipe I got from this site (they love it!) with a fresh glass of OJ or a smoothie. Snacks can be anything from single pieces of fruit, apple, peach etc., a slice of raw goat cheese aka a cheese stick, a choc. shake (with super foods in it), goji berries, almonds pushed inside of dates, sometimes I will have made fruit leather, cookies or fudge in advance. Lunch is where bread comes into our picture. We do eat "peanut butter and jelly sandwiches"
which is Ezekiel bread with raw almond butter and homemade (crushed) berry jelly. Or fruit salad, veggie roll-ups (sliced veggies rolled up in a romain leaf) or a "plate of greens" we NEVER have a salad...ha, ha, ha. One way I get them to eat greens is to "wrap presents" and eat'em up! we just wrap berries, grape tomatos, cherries (whatever it takes) in our green leafs and gobble'um up. I am not below a bribe either. I will put a raw scrumdilly-icious treat in the middle of the table and let them know that when they are done they can have all they want of that treat! That could be banana ice-cream, strawberry sorbet, fudge, choc. pudding, cookies or even a pie!
