I seriously need to not think that way - or I'll never be able to eat another sprouted cute lil buckwheat ever again... and they are sooo yummilicious! ;)

Starfire, you got me cracking up, you are so funny. I know your sprouts just love you girl.. Keep on talking, maybe I'll try that next time I sprout.

I just listen to a podcast from the live food summit and I did not know how good sprouts are for you! I mean I knew they were good for you, but they have so much more nutrition then I realized. I am going to give sprouting a try. It sounds really cheap to do as well. My husband would like that.

I most often (and I hadn't been doing this much lately but am just now getting back into the habit) sprout buckwheat (it's so quick!!), alfalfa, mung beans and a couple mixes that sprout people has (italian and french... with garlic and clove mixed in... yum!!!).
I would very much recommend ordering the easy sprouter (unless you have a problem with using plastic!)... it really does make it easy. I have not had a single sprouting mishap since I started using those! Ah... and if you go to their web site (sproutpeople.com), you can search for any type of sprout for very specific instructions.
Man, didn't mean to be their little PR rep here! ;)
Happy sprouting!
Hey thanks! Actually, it's feedback and suggestions like that that make this board so wonderful and invaluable! Truly :)

Are bugs ever attracted to sprouts? Or is this not an issue?
What do you do with left-over sprouts? How long can you refrigerate them? Is each type different?
My few experiences with sprouting were disasters!

OK....I haven't sprouted anything lately. I think I will give something new a try. For some reason spourted peas sound GREAT! I am not sure what kind or where to buy them. I'll check sprout people.
Thanks.

I personally have never had bugs attracted to sprouts. As far as leftovers? Throw 'em into smoothies. Throw 'em into a salad. Throw 'em into ingredients to make crackers. They can stay a good amount of time in the fridge and yep each kind is different.
I suggest checking out www.sproutpeople.com. They have answers to every question one can think of regarding sprouts.
Also read Ann Wigmore's book, "The Sprout Book" - excellent source of info!

I am going to start soaking tonight to have some fresh sprouts soon.
Checking on the sprout people, and maybe thinking of a sprout machine that will keep things sprinkled with water......

Sprouted buckwheat, sometimes I dehydrate it, sometimes not, has become a staple in my diet. I'm confused as to whether it's a grain or a seed or someone told me it's a flower- And someone said all grains are seeds, and now I'm really confused. I lie in bed at night in the dark pondering this.......
