    Default Traveling with the Vitamix

    Hey Guys,

Im new to the Raw lifestyle.... Actually just started a couple of days ago and really do enjoy juicing and the benefits i get from actually eating fruits and veggies...

My question to you guys who have the Vitamix is how can i travel with it? Has anyone tried traveling with it? I am going overseas to 220V and im wondering how i can get it to work overseas....

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    karim

They sell a Travel Bag for the Vita-Mix but I would not travel with it. Things happen to your STUFF when you travel. I would get a little Bullet Mixer with all the changable tops to carry. I don't know about the Volts but there are adapters for everything.

I def. wouldnt pack it with the stowed luggage. You could take the blade out and pack that to be stowed and take the container and bottom (motor) part as a carry-on. There's some other portable blender people always use.....what is it called....Magic Bullet? Maybe someone else will remember the name of it....I traveled with my Vita-mix and I found myself being extra careful so it woudn't get broken, which was a pain so I guess it depends how you feel.

    Default Transformer needed!

I lived over seas and used my US. vitamix with a transformer. Transformer of say 1200+ watts. check the machine think it requires more then 500 or so. watts.
Or you could sell VM or save it for your US return. Purchase a 220v and sell it to a friend when you leave overseas.

I didn't take my vitamix when we were over in the Ukraine but we had to have an adapter for anything we brought that had to use electricity or you'd ruin your stuff and basically it wouldn't work either. So be sure to get an adapter and I'd for sure put your blender in your carry on. I've had luggage come back home with handles torn and cuts in the fabric....your luggage can really take a beating. Have fun where ever your going.

OK Seriously... It's huge. Unless traveling somewhere to stay for a month or more, I could not imagine packing the VitaMix in my luggage!

    Default Blender: Overseas travel options

I have actually looked into this extensivly having contacted VM. The US model does not work very well overseas. Even with an adaptor.

I am visiting home (UK) in the spring and really do not want to be without my blender. I have come up with two options. The first is to buy the Tribest personal travel blender. Tribest sell a US AND a UK version and its really cheap. Alissa sells the Tribest on her site but I do not know if she sells the 220v version however the www.tribest.com site does.

    http://www.alissacohen.com/shop/home.php?cat=9

My second option is to buy a blender when I get there. A good shop to look at is www.johnlewis.com. I have given the blenders link below:
    http://www.johnlewis.com/Electrical+...oductType.aspx

I contacted Vita Mix to ask about the motor speed and RPM so I could compare. They responded that the wattage is 1380. For instance the UK Kitchen Aid blender on the link above is only 800Watt.

Buying one over there is an option ofr me because I have somewhere to leave it. If you dont then I would go with the Tribest. Of course there is always the option of buying a 220v VM and taking it with you as they do sell a travel case for it but it is BIG.

I did have a question. Ae you just traveling or are you relocating? If you are moving there VM buy back machines also you could do a a trade with someone moving here. You can buy 220v VM here (as well as oversears) in the US and take with you.

    Hope this helps,

    EPPP
