Favorite book ... after Alissa's of course
I have Alissa's book and love it. It is a great resource especially for us newbies. I have a couple others that I have checked out from the library before purchasing. I am really enjoying Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine by Dr. Cousens (I need to get his Conscious Eating book too) and was wondering if others had any favorite books. I'm looking for recipes and kid friendly foods... beyond avocados and bananas.. :) ha ha

I really like Raw Food Real World by Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melngailis, but its the only raw book I have so I don't really have anything to compare it to!
I also like Gillian McKeith's books - they're not specifically raw but promote it.
Personally, I have found that it is best to look at a raw food recipe book at your local bookstore or library before buying it, if at all possible. I bought one via AMazon.com that I couldn't see before and it was a great dissapointment. (Raw Food Primer).
I have looked at a few in bookstores that contained wonderful recipes with ingredients that are almost impossible for me to get in Northern NY. Your location and what produce and ingredients are available to you may have a bearing on which recipe books appeal to you.
Alissa's is wonderful and has such variety of recipes.
A recipe book that I like which has non-complicated recipes with easy to find ingredients, is called
Raw Foods Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet.
Some of her recipes are similar to Alissa's, though. For example, she has the standard zucchini angel hair pasta, and sunflower pate recipes, which are found in many raw recipe books.
I have looked at many recipe books, and speaking for myself, Sarma's book Raw Food, Real World, while beautiful, contains more complicated recipes which require ingredients that are difficult for me to find. I long to visit her restaurant Pure Food & Wine ,though. YMMV ;)
I heard an interview with Jenna Norwood of Supercharge Me fame and she said she is working on a new recipe book.
Many people on RFT also have previously recommended Ani Phyo's raw food recipe book. I'd like to see a copy of it myself some day.

I also really like Jennifer Cornbleet's book. It's a great starter book cos none of the recipes need a vitamix or a dehydrator & the amounts are for 1 or 2 people so not a disaster if you dont like them. She also states the shelf life for many of the finished recipes & this really helped me plan ahead in the beginning of my raw journey. I use many of her recipes as daily staples cos I know how long they will keep for in the fridge/freezer.
For easy recipes, Ani Phyo's Raw Food Kitchen is an excellent book. A majority of the recipes don't require anything more than a food processor or blender. I'm also looking into The Sunfood Diet Success System by David Wolfe.....I'm not sure if there are a lot of recipes in it, but I've heard good things about the info it contains....it's on my "to get" list!
I'd highly recommend David Wolfe's book The Sunfood Diet Success System. Just wonderful.
Raw by charlie trotter and roxanne klein is amzing, but it is hard to source a lot of the ingredients bc they are really exotic. but, what I could make I really liked.

The raw food diet detox- great recipes, no dehydrator or soaking. i'm going to give a couple copies of this book to some of my family for christmas.

I second "Rawsome" by Bridgette Mars. It doesn't have any pictures & it's not printed on glossary paper, but it's a super book.
It has lots of recipes, useful info on all the major veggies-fruits-herbs-nuts etc, sprouting instructions, info on kitchen equipment, and a section with every vitamin along with the primary food sources for those nutrients.
It's a very complete book to answer all those questions that pop up. I like to take mine with me to the grocery or health food store.
Raw Foods Made Easy by Jennifer Cornbleet is also a favorite of mine, after Alissa's of course! And Raw Food Real World is a beautiful book too. Jennifer's book is very basic with easy recipes, I saw her speak at a VegFest festival I attended last year and it was fun to meet her in person!

"I am Grateful" by Cafe Gratitude is the best!!!!!!!!! my family and friends love everything I make from that book. The milkshake tastes like the real thing. the pad thai is awesome, pizzas are yummy and desserts will make you go to Heaven
