    Question Maca and Breastfeeding?

Does anyone know about or have experience with taking Maca while breastfeeding? I have done a google and a banana search. The google search brought up conflicting evidence. Some say it's great and other say not enough studies to know, or it's bad.
It's enough to make me wait til I am done b'feeding, but I have heard it's great for the adrenals and hormone imbalances, both of which I have. Also, I think my dh would love the added benefit of more libido !
Tell me your experineces, please!? TIA

I'm breastfeeding and am waiting for my maca to come in. I have taken maca previously, about a year ago, when I was breastfeeding. It actually helped with my milk supply.

That's great, thanks guys! So, you don't notice any changes in the little nurslings? My little one is not a good lseeper, and the last thing I need is for her to get more energy from this also. More energy is fine, but when it reaches my milk to her in the evening, will it give her a boost then?

Hmmm, I don't know. I've been giving my daughter Maca too in these cookies I made (raw of course) and I haven't noticed anything except maybe she's extra tired lately, but that's probably not because of maca. You can take a smaller amount first and see what it does. Are you taking maca in powder or capsules?

How old is she? At night, do everything you can to keep the light down and don't talk to her, so she will know the difference with night time and day time.

I recommend the DVD (If she is less then 4 months), The Happiest Baby on the Block - The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Baby Sleep Longer (DVD) (2006) by
    Dr. Harvey Karp (Actor)

    It is worth the investment.

Now, i had to rely on my intuition. After six week, i start to use my intuition and she started to make her night then. I would put her on top of our bed and she would sleep with her (there were no danger for us to roll over her. She was by our feet. I would never let cry hoping she stopped. I would go through all the step to check A, B, C and D then repeat, at time i would check for other cause. Sometime, it was her diaper being itchy on her belly. I just follow my intuition, and at some point, i had to put her in her crib because it wasn't safe for her to sleep with us she was moving too much. When her crib was too little, i start to put her in her room on a mattrix on the floor, surround with padding for protection and a gate. I place a monitor and at every little sound, i would go to check on her. I feel this send her the message that mommy was going to be there for her and it made her feel safe.

Anyway, every child is different but if you use your intuition, you will figure it out.

Unless Maca content caffein (which i doubt), she will be ok. I find this is great idea to supplement with that. I recommend to do chlorella also and monitor your B-12. I took also e3live. It seems to increase my milk production.

    All the best!
    Blessings and love
